so i just sold my letus, and dont get me wrong, i LOVED IT, i had originally planned on just selling it and getting the letus ultimate or the SGpro, now that all seems fine and dandy, but then i was thinking....my buddy has been taking some AWESOME looking pictures with his d3. so i thought, why not get a D90 or panny GH1, still get the awesome DOF footage, and have the capabilities to capture stills! so i guess what my real question is:

get the d90 or the gh1 (or some similar VDSLR)
or
get a nice 35mm adapter (letus extreme or SGpro rev3 or Blade)

and if its not too much to ask, which out of the 35mm adapters do you suggest?

my highest price i would like to go is: 1300.

thank you guys for all your help, you guys never fail me!!!!

The video on the canon t1i is looking good too, but it only does 1080 at 20fps, but if you use it in 720 you could do an amazing 24fps... i think costco had them for like $850 with lens (and costco has a great warranty service, i think is two years no questions asked... all by just being a member)

The nikon d90 and d5000 are ok, but i would probably go with canon T1i (maybe in the future being able to go 5DMKII)

the GH1 has all manual controls (like the 5D)... but Canon has more lens options!

so with $1300 in hand i would probably go with the Canon Revel, and get some glass... and the footage would mix in great with the HMC150!

im assuming you meant "rebel", but i mainly shoot in 720 24p on my HMC so that wouldnt be a problem....but you think a VDSLR would be a better investment than a 35mm adapter?

yes i meant rebel (sorry for the typo)... a 35mm adapter kills the lowlight on camcorders and makes them look like bazookas!... a VDSLR is compact, inexpensive (to a point) and amazing in low light.
I guess it depends what you need it for!...

Canon made the 5DMKII fully manual, maybe the rebel is next!

Do you need a B cam or do you ever need 2 angles? If so the SLR makes more sense. Otherwise the HMC is a video camera, the others are picture cameras - settings are often harder to adjust on the fly with a SLR.

no, i just want one for artsy shots with DOF, and maybe for just some b-roll kind of stuff, so i guess that it would be a B cam....but the only reason im considering a VDSLR, is for the fact it can do amazing VIDEO and PICTURES. but if it could only do one over the other, i wouldnt get it.

I'd get a GH1 because the possibility to shoot 720p/60 is really hard to beat. Plus there are tons of ways to get other lenses on it.

I never thought about that point before. To get a dslr instead of a 35mm adapter. It's crazy the options that you can have with the technology out nowadays.

ive been back and forth for months now! but it really is awesome how many options we have now

i got a d90 a while back to work as broll and 2nd camera with my hmc150. now i wish i would have waited and got the gh1. so yeah, i'd go with the gh1. i've been thinking about selling my d90 and going gh1.
