Dec 1st Status Check

Congrats on your progress everyone! I absolutely can't wait to see your films.

I'm caught up 110% on a feature right now and can't participate in the sci-fest, but I highly look forward to seeing what you come up with. My socks are ready to be knocked off.

Whew! That's one down. Kidding, Sam. Kind of.

Would have been great to see what you could have come up with, but at least I know we'll be one notch closer to the top. Take that as the sincerest compliment.

Jack (jdanstan) doesn't know it, but I'm secretly trying to sabotage his film ... just hope he doesn't read this post and find out.

80% of the film should be completely finished editing picture tomorrow. Still have to shoot a few last scenes, and mix audio, and score. Hardest part is just beginning!

lol, Norm,

I was about to type the exact same response to Sam's post :cheesy:

(the "whew" part, not the secretly sabotaging Jack's film since ... well ... that's me ...)

Ugh. We're getting our last pick-up shots (reshooting interior truck scenes as day-for-night) this Saturday. I'm a little behind schedule with the editing, primarily from trying to balance family and this hectic holiday season ... but I knew it'd be a struggle ... just didn't think it would be THIS much.

Hoping to have a locked edit by next Mon/Tues.

I'm dying here tonight, as there are a few key shots I was hoping we'd gotten, but I was so busy being in front of the camera as well, that the missed shots went unnoticed (waltind had his hands full as well). So, I'm doing my best to composite a clip here & a clip there together to get the effect I want. When it's done, if it's not convincing, I'll yank 'em.

I feel your pain Norm. It's always a bummer not getting everything you need. I am feeling the pressure too. I leave in a week for a vacation to Florida, and I have 4 actor's schedule's to juggle to finish this short.

I juggled around talent for the Zombie Fest. Never again. It went so much more smoothly casting the talent this time based on who could make OUR schedule. Plus, friends tend to be less flexible vs. talent that WANTS this for their reel/resume.

Yeah. I hear you. All of the friends that I've cast are very good actors, and I know what to expect from them. I was wary to cast outsiders for this, and not get what I had hoped for.

Um.... WOW!

No, it's fancy talk for 5 PCs and one notebook computer set up to render on a network. It's not an official render farm, my friend just has a few PCs ranging from 2.5 GHz to 3.2 GHz. He he. There are about 15-20 visual effects shots, and I have 3 weeks to do them. Yikes.

Dude... is there an effect's prize? Cause... it sure sounds like you're going all out with the effects...

Well, my main field of study in school is visual effects. I'm going to college to be a visual effects compositor. Filmmaking is my secondary passion. So hopefully, my filmmaking won't be crap, but it probably won't be as good as some others.
