Excellent! Now we're getting somewhere! I like the D800 sample the best.

[hsz]

the D800 looks a lot better ... now I would love to see it compare to 5DMK III

To be honest, they both look like utter crap when shooting charts. Scarily so.

compared to what though? Compared to the 5D II, the D800 has much more resolution.

An HV-20, LOL! (I realize that charts don't do these cameras justice .)

[Uwe Lansing]

Regarding to this test and if I´m not mistaken the D800 has a horizontal resolution of about 750 lines in crop mode: http://vimeo.com/39434808

Remember that dx mode on d800 is utter crap compared to fx.

Here is a Chart shot with the D800. Still not nearly as good as it can be. However it's something for now.

Perhaps varying in-camera settings for color profiles and sharpening come into play here. As you can see in this test for the 5DIII it can make quite a difference: http://vimeo.com/39517721. So, if we take this as a basis - both (the D800 + 5DIII) come close to the GH2: http://vimeo.com/17980144

[Samuel H]

that gh2 test is pre-hack; for such a "scene", increased bitrate shouldn't matter much, right?

also, looking at the D800-vs-5D2 resolution and moire test, I would rate the D800's "moire-free-limit" at 720 lines, whereas the 5D2's would be 580 lines
so: still moire, but mostly b/w (no color rainbows), and only in finer detail

What? Why do you say this?
