D5200 Anyone got it ???

I like it bruno. What settings and lens did you use? Im thinking about getting this camera but still researching it.

Hi guys, I just picked up this camera after reading this thread, my first foray into dslr video. I've been playing with it for the last few days shooting as much as I can, but there is one thing I am confused about. I see a lot of people talking about sharpness and contrast settings when filming, I am not sure how to adjust these in camera? Can someone please explain this to me?

This doesn't answer that question, but I'll say I'm playing with a D5200 right now and there will be a new version of Flaat for Nikon soon (the first non-beta version!). Same colors, less noise in the shadows (how much less, still not clear), and maybe a bit more DR in the highlights (this last one, just maybe: I'm still playing with it, and looking for downsides).

Looks good and will pick it up and put it on my camera this week.

Also Samuel I know earlier you were trying to give in to the urge to get one of these cameras but you already have the NEx 5n you said right? Well I got one of the nex 5n, got to say its freaking awesome. Havent shot much with the D5200 because of how fun the nex is haha. The D5200 might be a little better quality but the size of that nex is just awesome!

Yes, both the 5N and the D5200 are great. And the BMC, and the 5D3-RAW... Even the C100 is great... But money is limited! :)

I mean: I'm trying to be patient and not buy compulsively. I don't NEED a new camera, the 5N is very nice for my personal projects, and recently I've found that when I have collaborated in a bigger project there was someone else with a better camera for me to shoot with (BMC). Also, if I went for a D5200 (which, unlike my 5N, has a nice codec, 422 out, and no aliasing/moire), or a BMC, or a 5D3-RAW, I'd still keep my 5N. I'm in talks about a project with lots of fighting, chasing, etc, which would require 60p! No perfect camera, I'm afraid...

So, my current strategy: have a good-enough camera for personal stuff, borrow for tests, and also borrow/rent if a bigger project comes around. I'm very fortunate to be making lots of very interesting friends lately (Flaat didn't make me rich, but this was an awesome side-effect; for example, that BMC project -that should be out any day now!- was AWESOME, and the guy who contacted me knew I existed because of Flaat).

Yes. Hopefully it'll be out soon...! ;) Working hard on the VFX elements. Now i realize that it'd be almost a nightmare going with the CG stuff WITHOUT the RAW power. BMCC did the trick here.

No denoise at all, just compression (H.264 in the original file, whatever vimeo does if you watch the 720p version there). Everything straight out of camera, except I pulled down the black level in the Flaat v1 samples (I noticed an improvement in noise and FPN in some intermediate tests by slightly increasing the black point in the profile and then bringing it down in post; the difference seemed bigger than what I'm seeing in this final test that I uploaded).

(can't waittttt.......)

Hey all, new D5200 owner here and loving it. Switched from the GH13. Really liking the awesome picture quality and 1.5x crop factor. Also, the price, wow.

Question for everyone:

-I shot today with the FLAAT 10 color profile, and whenever I tried to adjust the ISO of what I was shooting, I didn't notice any changes in brightness. Is the FLAAT 10 profile locked to a certain ISO or was I shooting in the wrong mode (was using M on the dial, and pressing the movie record button)? Quite confused why it seemed like I couldn't change the ISO and also wondering what the actual ISO shot at was used. Good news, footage looks great, thank you FLAAT creator!
