D5000 on Nikon 's Sweden web site

looks like its just the same as d90. 720 24p
im guessing no manual controls. Hopefully its not as jello

Thanks for that link, Squig.

Based on the specs on that page, I noticed:

LCD Monitor:

- D5000: Vari-angle type, 2.7-in., approx. 230k-dot, low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCD, approx. 100% frame coverage, 170° viewing angle, and brightness adjustment

- D90: 3-in., approx. 920k-dot (VGA), low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCD with 170° viewing angle, approx. 100% frame coverage, and brightness adjustment

Abstract:
"The movies from our pre-production unit look an awful lot like those we got from the D90, oddly enough."

From the specs under Movie heading:

• Exposure compensation available in P, S, A, M modes

M Mode? in Movie? Wonder if stair-stepping is fixed?

Anything on recording duration? I hope they didn't cut and paste completely from D90...Even if duration is longer, I may jump for it..

The movies on nikonrumors (from You Tube) looked to me much better than the D90 but untill we see more we won't be sure how improved the movie mode might be.

It will have more jello....it's lighter

My guess is the d-movie mode is identical to the D90, same sensor/processor. So all you get is a cheaper D90 with a smaller swivel screen.

They might have upped the bit-rate. At least that would be some incentive to downgrade.

Yeah, a little wobbly one might say. I guess Nikon didn't want us to miss that nostalgic touch.

Keep saving my money for the next one maybe.
