D400 just a rumor

true that. But again, im pretty easy to please. Won't be using this thing for any large features. Maybe some shorts, but for anything serious, im waiting for the Scarlet. Fully manual controls and wide dynamic range.

haha, i wonder if someone from nikon made that... Just screwing with our heads.. And i wonder if that was shot with a D400 prototype?

No it is just one of those customized flash video often used as joke. At the end of the video you can actually replace the name of the "special guest" they are talking about by your name or your friends name.

A funny guy who tried to be brilliant put "NIKON D400" instead of the name of a person.

You could put also: "D90 Firmware update" instead of "D400" you know. Wow that would be so much fun guys. So much fun.

Youhou, I am already pissing in my pants.

i think it's funny, always liked those. or does it have to be hard to produce in order to qualify? btw you know papa doesn't really wonder that, don't you? ;-)

have a look at this guys work-

i just did. i don't know. if i want deep focus shots i can get them more consistently and at the same time sharper and with less artifacts using my hv20. and i must say i'm quite disappointed by the highlight saturation on the rainy night clip, it's not even close to what you get with the mark 2 or d90. simply put, even though people seem to want to kill me when i say it, it looks like video. those out of focus highlights should look like smooth, deeply saturated discs, not blown out desaturated blobs. on film, as well as the cameras mentioned they would.

hehe yeah they get very upset when someone rubbishes their new toy. Are you lurking in there under an alias?

Do you think using an ultra-contrast filter might help with the highlight saturation?

Again it's another compromised cam and I have a thread of hope for the D400 but if it doesn't come soon I may succumb to the fanboy club and manual control.

i don't think an ultra con would help, on the contrary since it gets its effect by scattering ambient light across the image, which lowers saturation too. underexposure should help, perhaps with a custom curve that brings up the shadows to compensate. i often use black stretch and underexposure to get that effect with video cameras.

Thank you again for eloquently analyzing what others 'feel'. The GH-1 is a high-end point and shoot aimed at a consumer market--the compromises we are seeing in its movie mode are to be expected and were anticipated by many of us.

One of these days Nikon (or Canon) is going to fix the current issues with their cams, and we will have the 'solution' to our search for a full 35mm digital movie imager that is 'affordable'. Of course if they can get the price of the s35 Scarlet down over at RED . . . . .
