d300s video on vimeo

do you think it was for real? Does Nikon let people have cameras before they are even out?
Looks like crap to me. I'll be waiting for the D400!!

i've no idea if this one is for real, but it's common to be able to play with them at such events. just bring your own memory card. now that i think about it the reason there's not so much jello might be the vr, i only use manual lenses myself. the skew when he pans is actually pretty bad.

I think it´s for real.

Apparently some people have tested it already. The main question for me is if I should pay twice as much for the d300s or just go with the d90 until they (Nikon) release something proper. I don´t own a d90 - I was plannning on buying one, until I heared about d300s. Now it looks like I´m back to my initial plan.

hey, let's shoot it out of focus, make incorrect assumptions about the aperture priority in live view, and use a wall of bags as our subject? great idea, let's do that.

Haha. Yes. It´s amazing. Finally someone gets a hold of a d300s and can´t get their own camera to work properly. Lovely!

I still think we need to wait till the D300s comes out and get some good reviews. Some 30 second video doesn't mean much.

Looks really bad! If that is D300s I don’t have too wait to make up my mind about that camera. I don’t need more then 30 seconds of that s**t. Nikon is out of the game for I long while now!

Well, at least the autofocus looks to be quite fast to what I was expecting it to be. Not that I will use it much, but maybe sometimes when using stedycam etc. But only if you can set it to 1-point-focusing.

Filmmakers don't need AF. And how does everyone expect for it to be no more rolling shutter jello effect? Did I miss something, did Nikon invent a new technology or something? They're still shooting 24p after all.

Yup looks exactly the same to me as the D90...
Thanks for nothing Nikon.

Except for amazing still cameras and CLS and quality products ahha.

BUt your still lacking in the video department/

one would expect newer chips to be clocked higher, it's no rocket science. that's not only good for video, still cameras also benefit from higher readout speeds so even if they couln't care less about the video that's something they should do.

They're still shooting 24p after all.
so you mean if they could they would use 30? to me 24p is a good thing, and besides it has very little to do with jello, although it's true that it's much more visible at lower frame rates.

of course the video Nikon put out is awesome. I'm not going to write them off yet because someone in south American post a 30 sec video. The two videos are like night and day.
