FS7: Custom matrix settings for Rec 709 delivery??

Thanks again Lenny. I am trying to find a pleasant look with focus on not too magenta decent skin tons. I find the User Matrix setting much better understandable than what you changed in the matrix setting. We had 48hrs non stop rain and there is still no sun today but I will test and report as soon as possible.

I'm not sure what you mean by that but I'm guessing that it is just easier to understand the 4 or 5 choices they give you for user presets than my settings. That's exactly why those are there. Those user presets are a new thing in cameras and they are settings designed by the manufacturers, basically doing something like I did with the 6 matrixes and and then packaging them as preset looks. In the old days video cameras didn't have that choice of looks and local techs would often come up with their own matrix settings like mine to make the camera "prettier" than it did out of the box.

That's what i tried to do and those numbers should not make any sense at all to you . In fact they don't to me - I just know I like it. . But like I said its kind of a black art and I wouldn't try to use my settings in any other way than I presented them. You can find other similar matrix settings from Able Cine, Alistair Chapman, and probably Doug Jenson among others. Personally I would be wary of screwing around with the multi matrix though and only because I've never seen anyone recommend a general setting with them so I suspect there is a good reason why.

If your only problem is magenta skin tones why don'\t you just adjust a phase a little or white balance through a 1/8 magenta gel.

Good Luck and post your results.
