Hi fellow DVxers :) I wanna show You video that is essencial for my campaing, and I didnt manage to do it right.
In this topic i wanna disscuss mistakes and ideas for second one.
So here is campaing, https://wspieram.to/mieszkamynaodrze and the video alone *eng subtitles included.
Because of the wind, and not being familiar with voice recordings, my sound and mix is really bad.
I used rode rycote and recorded it directly at the camera.
Aerial shots are done with dji and gh4 with my friend company www.twoshots.pl
Now im on the verge of producing next video, and help is really needed.
Idea is to show my city at its most beautiful steate wich is summer with all the ships and events.
So a lot of drone footage and a lot of my voiceover.
Anyone with kickstarter experience? Anyone with advice for second video?
thanks

Thats both very good replays, because the main idea is to help us, because we're giving a lot in exchange.
And this is still not so visible, the house will be a gallery, airbnb place and artist residency center. :D
Thanks for Your post :) Try to dig depper please and focus on video also. I really need feedback

Definitely work on audio. Have your text written and rehearsed, record it properly and with good quality. Music is to loud when you speak, I would lower it substantially.
At the beginning talk about what you have written above: "that it will be gallery, airbnb place" etc. You start your video by saying that "we always wanted a house on water" and that's what gives bad impression that you just want people to finance your house ;)
Visuals are really good, I wouldn't change a lot there. High quality.
Good luck! :)

Hi Alohype :)
We ware to close to this project, and we didnt see this. Thanks for good review. Next video will start differently :) Ill be happy to keep You posted here.
Thanks!

Wow, just wow. You are wanting to build a very expensive houseboat in a very expensive part of town and have someone else pay for it? And in trade for paying for your new home, people get to have breakfast with you, or if they are large donors get to sleep on your couch. I also like the artists rendering of the wonderful boat anchored next to the home. I'm guessing that is a later kickstart campaign. "the house will be a gallery, airbnb place and artist residency center." Really? So your house will be a gallery? How is that going to happen? An airbnb? So you are going to earn income renting a house someone else paid for. An artist residency center? Where is everybody going to sleep? Does the Szczecin Art Academy know you are using them to gain funds to build your home? Seriously, your video and audio quality are the least of your worries.

All the best!

Dave

Hi Dave,
I think Your comment is based on wrong idea. Yes im gathering money to finish this project. But in Poland, there is no load to support our idea, because for a bank this is not a house, so no morgage. Second thing, im gathering 25k$, in a project worth about 100k$. And my rewards are also nice, because i will be not present during someone else stay, and airbnb isnt that popular in Poland still. Last thing i will give all the knowledge i've gathered during last 2 years. Because its really hard to finish something like this here, a lot of administrative problems occured. Second last, im really upset that You are so unsettled by this, knowing that, potato salad project was on kickstarer and so on. I was a student of this fine art academy, and please tell me where I should post more info about things that are no written.

Hey, I was just in Szczecinie! I'll never know how to pronounce it. It was a great city, very beautiful.

Your video is really nice, and like others have said, should be the least of your worries. If your project really has all these other great benefits, you should mention those first. For the first 2/3 of your video, it really seems like a parody. As others have said, it looks like a joke where you're just asking everyone to give you a house.

Your video quality, along with the aerials, might actually be "too good" for what you're doing. Check out this blog post from Seth Godin, called "The Dead Zone of Slick." http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2008/08/the-dead-zone-o.html

Your video looks super cool, and you have great aerials and whatnot... and yet you're just asking money to build your own house. In some sense, your video is too "glossy" to go along with your purpose, which is a crafty / construction kind of thing, and perhaps should feel less polished.

Hi, Paluszek. Definitely, the audio needs work. If you can have lav microphones on the people saying lines, it would help immensely. I agree that the music is too loud when there is dialogue.

The landscape and aerial shots look great! Also, the shot of the two speakers looks very good, but it would be much better if there were close-ups available to break up the visual monotony of two people talking at a camera.

Good luck with the next one!

I think the way Poles call this is "szuka jelenia", but as we say here "there's one born every minute". In your case, one "jelen" may not be enough, you will need a whole "stado". They are out there, go find them! Use lavs, but also consider using a voiceover to put a better spin on the whole thing.

Hi Drew!
Please tell me how You manage to find Yourself in Szczecin? :) This dead zone article makes a lot of sens, ill do lofi vid aswell. To make it less pro.
thanks for tips and ill give my second vid fpr Your ratings

my mistake is that i didnt comunicate enough about the social cause in this project, didnt use lavs, and im not 'szukam jelenia' :)

As someone earlier noted: the audio quality isn't the biggest problem with the video.

It's the concept.

FWIW: I've been saving up to purchase a Ferrari. If anyone wishes to help me reach my goal, I'll be happy to give you a ride to the bar once a month. If you live in my city, of course.

So if I fund your dream home I get to have breakfast with you? What a great deal! Wow! Let me know if you plan to get other houses as well so I could donate more and maybe then get lunch and dinner as well.
