C200: Covid-19 Game Show

My wife and I both tested positive with Covid-19 a few weeks ago. I've captured our whole journey and am finishing up the edit on the documentary I'm making about it, but in the meantime I thought I'd share this silly bonus scene that plays during the credits of the film. It's good for a chuckle:

If you'd like to follow along on our journey, here's the website I created where I'll be posting updates about the film project: https://www.makinglemonade.film/

Looks great, the unpeeled onion caught me off guard. Is this practicals and window light?

Hope everything returns to normal for you both. I'll be looking for updates on the site.

Thanks! We shot this at night. Keyed with a Aputure 300DII double diffused (i think) with the light dome mini shooting through a white bed sheet. It was tricky to light that space because right above Krista's head is a drop ceiling kitchen divider thing which made it dang near possible to key her face so I lowered the light and am shooting up at her, but once it was diffused enough it wasn't too noticeably directional.

I think we shot this before I realized I had a CTO gel in my bag, so this is probably using the gold reflector inside the light dome to warm the light up a little. And then just turned all our lights in the kitchen on. I used Black Promist 1/8 to smooth the skin and to give the practicals in the background a little glow.

I originally posted on YouTube without much a grade, but since you can't update videos on YouTube I posted on Vimeo as well with this current color grade.

Really nice job. Perfect. (did she really bite through the onion skin?)

Looing taste is one way to start eating the healthiest diet possible without the downside of bad taste.

If only it were that easy. I’m a PICKY eater and therefore, not exactly a healthy eater, but it’s not always just the taste. Studies have been done on picky eaters and one of the biggest components of it is actually food texture/mouth feel, and I can attest to that being true. There are things that I like the taste and smell of, but I can’t stand the texture of, so I don’t eat them. Cooking something with peppers & onions, oh man does that smell appetizing, but can’t stand the texture to eat them. I love ketchup and salsa and pizza and tomato bisque, but not an actual tomato slice. And the list goes on and on...

ha ha, that was exactly my wife's comment. Did she really eat the onion skin.

Nicely done! Did you zoom in post?

Thank God you recovered. I have seen bad cases here.

A little movie magic on that one, haha. I thought it would be funnier if it looked like she ate through the skin, so she peeled the skin off a spot in the back so she could fully bite into it.

Basically we looked through our fridge and picked out anything that would be bizarre to not taste, or made a great sound when biting into.

The slow zooms were done in post and then a did a few snap zooms with the lens. Sigma Art 18-35. If memory serves correct I shot this in raw and transcoded to prores in Resolve and then graded in Premiere (yes I just typed that...)

Nice work, Chris! I am blown away by your tenacity: "When life gives you lemons...."

BTW, I had just subscribed on YT when you first put this out and I thought, "What?" I hope you both are making a full recovery, and good luck with the doc! Yours might be the first --the original-- of a genre we'll see hundreds of soon. Looking forward to seeing it.
