Countdown...

Well, i dont want to be negative. I even have a RED prepayment done. But i think the task you have now is more complicated than what you have done.

It seems to me easier to create some kind of device attached to a lense, lots of cables and some recording huge machine THAN to be able to ship a 100% finished product that really works as expected.

I think i am trying to say that the product might be almost designed and engineered, but the boring task of "marketing", "build" and "distribute" in an assembly line is what i am most afraid of.

the sensor is the monster hurdle .. thats the magic pudding. After you get a sensor that shoots 4k at 60fps, the rest of the stuff becomes just engineering.. something Jim has a history of dominating at.

Good luck to RED team in IBC! Your success would be great news for us all. I cannot be there but my friend is going to attend. He will present to you his HDD array which could be enough fast for RED ONE. All the best! I cannot believe that you made such progress with that small team and so short time! My hat down to all of you.

I hear ya Mac :)

There are a lot of challenges ahead. And sometimes the enthusiasm may look a bit unbridled. I think many of us have one foot on the ground, including the RED team. The sensor was a big hurdle. But, there are plenty left (maybe not as big). I want this camera to be the MIG's of cameras - works anywhere, anytime, but kicks major a**. This is the first step in the rubber hitting the road, and by no means even close to the last.

And I don't think questions or concerns are negative, mate... as long as they're informed ones (as yours are). This is high performance and high stakes - RED team should expect no less.

And selfishly, I'm glad to hear you're getting a RED camera, Mac. You know we'll be asking for your scene files, settings and DP pov  That's one of the reasons that I'm grateful Jarred set up this RED forum, so we (RED users) can get the best out of this cam together.

Hopefully, I'll contribute a wee bit too.

RED# wish I was higher

and about time! Now we just have to nag the local cinema plex to get one of those nifty... 4k projector things

Yes hopefully everyone can give their own feedback and workflow tips etc.
Me, i can always post the "what not to do" tips:Drogar-Dum(DBG):

One day.
In the not so distant future.
The RED forum will have even more categories than two.

Artists rejoice !

Artists rejoice !

 As an amateur filmmaker all my blessings and best of luck gos out to the developers behind red team. This new technology available at that price is a stunning achievement and I for one am standing on pins and needles.

To the people that wrote the facts and specs that made the camera, THANK YOU.

yes of course.. that day most likely will be soon.

what a nice birthday present! tomorrow i'm one year older and the red team will show the footage of RED ONE. its a rather small period of time for me but a whole decade for the camera industry!

props to the RED team. a short time ago we were speculating which camera would do the best "HD" picture, now it wount be long until there's a 4k cam available for a reasonable price.

keep up the great work! can't wait to check the website tomorrow..
cheers..

I'll be at IBC on Saturday. The plane lands 10:30, but the RAI Center is five minutes form the airport, so I can still make it.
I could provide some coverage - video, photo or even live if everything goes well. The press passes are taken care of, but I still have to check out the permissions at the spot.

We'll be in Amsterdam 'till Monday morning, so there's also a time to shoot an interview with RED team, if I manage to get through to them...

- or if Jarred can pull some strings......:)

'Hope there won't be any flight delays...
