Could you use this lens with the 7d from Canon somehow?

2 Things:
1) That lens cannot be mounted to the 7d
2) You wouldn't want to mount it because you have the full range of Canon L Series Profession lenses. These lenses are better than the lens the you posted. Also you have the option of mounting other lenses like the Zeiss primes that are even better than some of the canon stuff.

You called it an HD lens and I want to make it clear that any lens that is on the eos system will work fine for HD. In fact they are design to work at higher than 4k resolutiuon. The still images taken by the 7D are 5184x3456 much larger than HD images.

learn about 'image circle' and 'chip size' and 'flange to focal distance'

I doubt that lens is going to work for all three reasons

Yeah, what Morgan said. Even if you mounted it and focused it, you'd have a tiny little image of illumination in the center of the chip. XLH1 lenses are designed for a 1/3" chip, which is about 5mm wide, so you'd get a frame that's about 80% black with a little tiny circle of footage in the center.

interesting...it is such a nice range and technically is an L series lens

1.6 to 2.6 on the zoom through.....so in a lot of ways spec wise it is better than any of the canon lenses and decently priced at 2500.00 to 3k....

makes sense that it won't fit on the 7d.....

but I guess a guy can dream....

thanks for the feedback
