First off, yes i did have the cards write protected.
Secondly, i've fixed the problem, but i thought i'd still post about it.
Finished a shoot this morning and went too offload the 2 8 gig cards i shot via my camera to my macbook.
Write protected the cards while they were in the camera, while it was off, connected the firewire cable, powered the camera.
Opened P2 Genie, still working out how i like to offload the mxfs the best and have been playing with the trail version of p2 genie recently to see if its worth buying.
Anyway, set my destination and clicked offload.
Once the offload was finished i went to check the clips in final cut... and low and behold, one of the clips, which happened to be 9 minutes long,, and a spanned clip (either could be the issue??) had the horrid mosaic look through the first 5 minutes of the clip.
I then brought the camera back to my Powermac g5 and decided to offload off the cards again, used P2CMS this time via firewire again,, opened final cut, and everything was perfect.
So, my questions are, have people seen this before with P2 Genie? even when write protected? is it a random occurrence? should i buy p2genie (which i've used 5 times so far with no other issues) or should i stick to P2CMS which works, but i find isnt as user friendly (aka fast) when using in the field and offloading your own footage..
