Over the last 2 weeks I`ve been testing out the hacked GH2 and some different patches quite a lot (sky-banding, iso 1600, IQ 24p vs 60p... etc). Here I`ve put some stuff together. Nothing special, only some random shots...

My conclusion:
There are 3 important advantages of the hacked over the unhacked Panasonic GH2 imo:
- much less sky-banding
- the IQ of the 720p60 is now on par with the 1080p24. I couldn´t discover any differences in IQ, even with severe pixel-peeping
- more stability in post production

What is the "24p buffer, 0x24000000" ?

That´s a really good question and frankly I don´t really know the answer. The only thing I know is that "Video buffer 24p=0x2400000" is the default setting in the unhacked GH2 (in your example one "0" too much). It is preferred by Chris Brandin for moderate higher bitrates (44mb + 66mb) as opposed to Nick Driftwood who prefers "Video buffer 24p=0x3600000" - so, more bandwidth for very high bitrates. I have the gut feeling that 2400000 is ok for my modified patch. Please take a look at this posting of Nick Driftwood as an example: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/comment/17311#Comment_17311
