Comparison Video / Explanation: Canon Rebel T2i vs. Canon EOS 7D

Awesome! I just ordered a 28mm f/1.2, 50mm f/1.7, and 105mm f/1.4 M42 mount and a M42 to EOS adapter. $60 packgage on ebay!

Impossible. You must've misread. I'm certain that the 28mm is f/2.0 (1:2), and the 105mm is f/4.0 (1:4). Sorry to disappoint you. But that is still an excellent deal for a 28mm f/2.0.

Can't they get someone older to do these? I feel like I'm learning from a 13 year old kid. haha

hahah well, I'm actually the one who did the write up, so they felt it was appropriate for me to do the video=] When I started working at EVS, I was surprised at the lack of this exact response, sure every once in a while people will ask for a second opinion as they don't completely trust mine, but truth is, I got where I am because I know things, and not who I know. Although I'm sure from here on out I will depend much more on the friends i have made, and can't thank them enough for the opportunities I've already been given, but it all starts with the want to know.

P.S. I'm seventeen:tongue: hahaha

I will check when I get the lenses (Mon or Tues). The picture showed the iris dial on each lens showing the max aperture. Could be a scam...

Thanks for the great info, but I'm going to ask you sort of a random question.

You shot this video in front of a gray backdrop (not green screen)? Reason I ask is because I am setting up my first limbo white scene and want to get some input from others. Although there are differences between my white and your gray backdrop, can you share your lighting set up?

As far as I know, nobody has ever made a 28mm f/1.2 lens for SLRs. And even if such a model did exist, it would be so rare and special that it would be EXTREMELY expensive. A 105mm f/1.4 is slightly more believable, but again it would also be quite expensive. The only cheap f/1.4 lenses that have ever been made have all been 50mm.

I don't even know what band these things are! But they're old... I am supposed to get them tomorrow now. I had them change it to overnight shipping. Too excited now!

You can get a pentax 50mm f1.4 in BGN condition from Keh.com for around $50 (k mount or m42 screw mount - pick your poison) grab an adapter on eBay from $7 to $30 for af confirm and shoot your heart out.

PS I'm from Santa clarita too! Went to Saugus High! Played in a punk band with Dean Spunt who is now a member of No Age!

Ahhh old man tales hahaha.

Nice. I go to Golden Valley. Yea there are some great deals on ebay. I will probably want an 80 or 85mm prime eventually...`

I forgot to mention, my big beef with this test is that it wasn't very objective.

They need to shoot the same subject, using both cameras with the same settings. By the way, I don't have a huge problem with the 1/40th shutter - but 1/50 is widely regarded as similar to the 180 degree shutter of a film camera and generally speaking the de-facto standard. Would be sweet to see a comparison using a zeiss ZE 35 or 50mm or zf 35 or 50mm on both cameras shooting the same test shot.:violin:

Well dammit. The lenses were not what I expected: The 28mm and the 105mm are both 2.8 and the 50mm is infact 1.7... The quality however is amazing!

good info...thanks duuude! i don't care how old you are.
800 bucks is a pretty sweet deal for that camera! decisions decisions...

Stickied, title simplified, and moved from t2i footage to the 7D/550D/t2i general discussion area ... since it is a discussion of the 7D 550D and T2i :)

Hopefully the sticky will end all the "what's the difference in the T2i and 7D threads."

Informative, simple, and well put together vid. Thanks EVS.

Oh, and I've always wondered what Barry Green was like at 14 :cheesy:
