I posted this on the Full Frame side but thought maybe I should check with the gang that using the t5i etc... cameras. I have the Sigma Lens 50mm1.4 that I use on my Canon 5d mkiii. A friend of mine has a t5i and wanted to know if this lens would fit on his camera? Any feedback? Thanks

You can put full frame Canon lenses on ASP-C cameras without any issues, but the reverse won't work so well.

When I'm on vacation I often meet people that are shooting on entry level Canon DSLRs and are staring at my Pro camera and big lenses. One time, while on a cruise, I was shooting with a 300 f2.8 II IS, which can be a very intimidating lens to say the least. A family starting asking questions so I popped it off the 1DX, took off their stock lens, and put it on their XTi to take it for a spin. They were blown away to get the oppurtunity to use that lens.

In short, yes you can put any EF mount lens on a EF-S body including your Sigma 50 1.4. The exception being non native EF or EF-S lenses that have an adapter...they, at times, will have clearance issues with the mirror (but that's usually when you are adapting a non native lens to a full frame body.

btw, if you post in the still photography thread you will get the same answer also ;)
