the dvx was 30P letter box ....the Canon was 30P 720

We are putting together a dvd and some of the footage we want to use was shot with the DVX100B in 30P ... we are now filming everything with the Canon 60D BUT would like to combine some older footage shot with the DVX for this last project.... moving forward everything will be shot with Canon 60D

any recommendations on how to combine the footage and what aspect ratios would work best.

the dvx was 30P letter box ....the Canon was 30P 720

The first question: how did you manage to shoot 720p30 with the Canon 60D? It only records 720p60 (and 720p50 - PAL).

You are correct I was thinking of our T2i footage which is not part of the project in mention.

Is there a way to combine the Dvx footage with the 60d

@Cabrera - I think you need to evaluate your footage then come back with the proper info.

What are you looking to output it to?

Ask yourself these questions

What is the final format?

Considering you are now shooting with 60d your end product would probably be 1080p 2398.

You have shot on the dvx at what format, 4x3 full frame or letterbox? and what frame rate? 24p or 24p advanced?

Lets say you shot at 24p advanced then you are cool and frame rates match. If not do a reverse telecine.

Upscale the DVX footage in your timeline to match the HD frame size. If you shot letterbox in the DVX then just blow up until the bars are gone. That way all is 16x9.

Why did you switch formats? Should have kept it consistent. I understand though things happen.

Can you share more info?

Final output is DVD

DVX footage is 30p some letterbox some full frame.

We didn't switch formats ... We have some older footage shot on dvx that we want to use.

You should be fine then. Just upscale your DVX footage as mentioned by me above but in a timeline of 720p 60 HD.
