Color Sampling - All the Cameras

Hi, having read Barry Green's articles sometime back, I wondered has anyone been able to give a cross referenced chart for a large majority of the video cameras on the market? It would be great to know who is 4.2.2, 4.2.0 etc. Of course I am not just asking about a few DVX type cameras but rather the whole gamut, from ENG all the way down to the little Canon HV20. Of course I realize that 4.2.0 can be different from one camera to the next for instance and that there are more variables involved, but it would certainly help in getting the bigger picture in terms of color and the market today.

It really comes down to what the cameras are recording to - format wise. From there you can figure it out.

MiniDV NTSC 4:1:1
MiniDV PAL 4:2:0
HDV 4:2:0
XDcam/XDcamHD 4:2:0
DVCpro25 4:1:1
DVCpro50 4:2:2
DVCproHD 4:2:2
Betacam (I think) 4:1:1 equivalent
Digibeta 4:2:2
HDcam 4:2:2
HDcamSR (I think) 4:4:4 via dual-link HD/SDI
AVC-HD 4:2:0
AVC/Intra (I think) 4:2:2

Off the top of my head. Corrections welcome.

Nice list William.

BETACAM-SP is analog component, which - due to color bandwidth alocations - generally actually comes out to somewhere near 4:2:2. Though as it's analog there isnt' techncially any "subsampling" but the color resolution of the analog componet signal is around 4:2:2 at it's ideal. But that is somewhat debatable, depending on the conditions at the time.

AVC-Intra 50 is 4:2:0
AVC-Intra 100 is 4:2:2
