Codec Not Found...

Streamliner

Respected User
OK,
Shot a lot with HVX but haven't cut a lot myself. Trying to mess around with some footage at my place while the ad agency does their cut across town, just in case...

Bonehead question (?) :
When I open FCPro 5.0.4 / new sequence I the get message: "Codec not
found You may be using compression type without the corresponding
hardware". Huh?

Attempting to import P2 from GRaid. Scratch Disc set to that drive. No other
FCP projects open. "Easy setup" to DVCPRO HD 720 24p.

What am I doing wrong?

Try a reinstall of FCP if possible, it may have missed a file upon installation, if that fails, it is highly recommended that you upgrade/crossgrade to final cut 5.1 and then software update that to FCP 5.1.1 for maximum compatibility with the HVX footage.

Also, make sure you are updated with your quicktime. It should be 7.1.3 , comes with the iTunes update, just run your software updater every once in a while.

Hope that works if you havent done that yet.

Thanks cynic, for your response... That all makes sense, except I've done a full edit here on my system with HVX files in the past...On this job the difference is that I shot 24p Native...We determined in pre-pro testing that made the Avid Adrenalin HD system across town happiest. I opened a file or 2 on location and imported fine to the FCPro version I'm running.

It may be something as simple as trashing your Final Cut Pro plist file from the user preferences and restarting.
