Clips from feature: "Silk Trees"

I noticed alot of great movement, which I can't distinguish between dolly or glidecam. Did you primarily film with your rig on? For instance, I suspect the library, graveyard and repairman scene to be glidecam shots.

But they could just as well be dolly. And even shots that sort of look like crane work could be you on top a building or peering down from a balcony with the glidecam.

But the dogfight scene definitely looks like dolly. What percent did you go glidecam compared to handheld or tripod?

Didnt take the rig to Indiana? Well all the motion really raises the bar, in my opinion. I hope the acting is half as good as your cinematography. I could watch the images, for sure, I just suspect it might be a little artsy!

Beautiful cinematography, David . . .

What was your shutter speed when the guy was getting punched in the alley?

Oh, and did you shoot 1080p and bump up certain clips from 720p? If so, I was wondering specifically how various people are uprezzing their 720p clips to conform with 1080p clips?

Well done. Excellent Cinematography...
Wait till ASH sees this.

How soon will it be done, and what you will release on DVD?

The alley scene was shot with a 1/125 shutter speed, and the entire film was shot in 720p. It is currently being edited in Indiana, where the film was shot, and I am unfortunately not able to monitor much of the post work as I am back in LA. While an assembly is projected for some time this month, I don't really know how long the director will take to picture lock, as it is a full-length feature. You should be able to track progress on the production company's website:

And who's ASH?

thanks for posting the stills, they are always more insteresting to me than the finished product for some reason. :/ looks very good though!

I watched a rough cut a year ago, but that's the last I've seen of Silk Trees. As far as I know, the film's in distribution limbo. The director said he's still doing some re-edits, so all I can do is wait and hopefully get a call to do a final color grade in the future.

I know I'm late in the game but it looks great. I am finally getting ready to leave my trusty DVX100 and jump into the world of HD and I have been looking back and forth between the HVX100a and the EX3 and the Canon XLH1. I am hearing a lot of people ***** about the Panasonic's poor resolution but this looked great. Does anyone have links to native uncompressed HVX200a footage or at least minmally compressed?

Thanks,

Michael Biggins AKA Blackout
