Cinemek G35 is back???

Jonathan,
Do you have any examples that are shot in HD with the current adapter? All of the examples on the site seem to be old examples that were shot with the version of the adapter you deemed as unsatisfactory for HD. I'd love to be able to see some examples from the available adapter before I put down my money. Thanks.

Hi john i've emailed you earlier but no response. i'd love the link to the hd footage. please pm me the link when possible. thanks.

I'm excited to see Cinemek back in the game. You're the ones who practically started the whole craze if I recall correctly...I've got my credit card ready and waiting.

If I may be so bold as to offer a small tip...The website design is really superb - but the text all throughout needs editing. Here's how the text on the main page should read:

The G35 is a revolutionary HD imaging
device that allows for 35mm Depth of
Field and Field of View. It contains no
moving parts and is completely self
contained. Its compact size and
lightweight design make it ideal for
professional applications where a
35mm Depth of Field is needed.
:)

Welcome back old friend. Yes, I know it first hand and I can attest it.
It is so unrewarding that although I was the first to lead this path (for those oldtimers here, at dvinfo and elsewhere) I am not even mentioned at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth-of-field_adapter like I did nothing at all. Like I wasn't even there.....
So... I gather the MPIC you saw first hand did not impress you... You must have something better in your sleeves then... Let's see it.

Can't you just update wikipedia and add yourself? Pretty much everyone know you were active in the 35mm game so get it updated!

Our flip module should work just fine with this, providing Jonathan's achromat can be removed. The optics are of the level (soon to be discussed in a very thorough 3rd party review) that they will likely improve on the existing achromat in the unit. The flip and 72mm HD achromat have been specifically engineered for near perfect edge/edge sharpness and chromatic aberration reduction given a 24x36 target at typical design distances in all adapters out there right now.

In any case, Jonathan, welcome back :-)

Dennis,
Thanks for the post. No point in reinventing the wheel. Lets talk some more about this. (handshake)

Yes, I will be getting those emails out later on this evening/morning. I'm migrating over to a mirror which can handle the traffic.

Thank you

Well Dan.. You should tell as first how is your groundglass moving, and than we will put you to wikipedia..

Is moving round.
Is it by publisging their R&D results on public forums how all the other companies got on that page? This is a practical example about democracy, freedom of speech and freedom to edit history (in and out) as we live it. Nice lesson.

"We"?? (we will..) I could include the info myself but that is not the point.
The point is someone thought it better be out !

And please pay again the domain and make your website working..
(This website is currently suspended for billing reasons.)

Uuuuuhhh.... how shamefull..... my my my.....
If OMNIS decides to suspend a website BEFORE ! ! ! asking me to pay the bill (although the domain was paid for and expires in 2009) that's their choice. (was it theirs, I wonder)
Good luck with your research.

no offense Dan.

I really respect your work and all the contributes on digital cinema field!!

Of course, you should be on 35mm DOF adapters Wiki, automatically..

Hope, to see your page online, soon!!

Cheers,

Don't worry, none taken. Is just sad some of us once in "power" (or so we think) step on the very those who made possible their existance. Preety much like disrespecting one's own parents or grandparents. Not nice and not good.
Even worse is when one needs to call their attention to the fact.
And since I am more or less out of the "race" (that's why I didn't bother with wiki) I wish sucess to the remaining runners. Less of me here.

But what does the fact that your name doesn't show on wiki has to do with the G35 being released? Please, don't interpret this as an attack. Your product is awesome, Dan. And I think everyone know you were a true pioneer. Respect is truly due here.

JHouser, I replied to your dedicated thread asking for specs... SPEED!!! please sir!

And footy!!!

Congrats on breaking new ground!

EDIT... there are two pages I missed! disregard any re-post or other blah-bery

EDIT # 2... ok I caught up... and it looks like the speed of the adapter has not been talked about here yet. It is posted on the page and listed as 1.4 stops. I find myself saying "ouch...". Also I am wondering if this adapter might be for those who can afford two adapters... a G35 for everything, till it gets dark, and you switch over to a Brevis or Letus... or those with big lighting packages and several grips... :) any thoughts?

I think in order to get the best of all worlds. You are on the right track. We chased our tail for quite some time trying to get a sub 1 stop adapter. When we finally acheived it we looked at the Thing.... Then promply tossed it in the waste bin. We had moved so far past what we had set out to do which was a produce an affordable static high quality extremely durable product which truly virtualizes a look we know so well its engrained into our heads. The look of 35mm glass. Its more than just a blurry background. So, we are ok with the extra stop loss, especialy now that there are truly wonderfull options for low light adapter.

Jonathan, I remember "back in the days" there were 2 different difusers available. One that lost 1.4 and one that lost 0.5. I'm guessing you tossed away the idea of the 0.5...

yea, that's what he said because he didn not like the picture

but is there any chance that you might allow for different difusers to be used and eventually you might find a way to get a Letus/Brevis like picturewith a faster element?

Right now I'm thinking that's a no, since the GG is sealed on a dust proof compartment...but who knows what the future will bring us...
