Cinemek G35 is back???

Right now I'm thinking that's a no, since the GG is sealed on a dust proof compartment...but who knows what the future will bring us...

This is probably the best reason not to allow users to change diffusers. The unit, as it stands, produces an extremely awesome image and shows that the engineering team knows what they wanted to deliver in the first place and is confident in the design optics to seal it away and pass it on to the user.

Trust me. Dust in a unit is NOT good. Once you stop down that stuff becomes super-apparent and a lot of the times you can't see it til it gets to a larger screen.

I could not agree more.
Hey Kholi, I know it's a bit soon but as a letus extreme user how do you see this HD footage that was posted on the other thread?

The Cinemek footage is GREAT. Consider that it's another Phillip Bloom situation, also (Phil's an awesome shooter. I'm pretty sure he could make us all want to go out and buy VHS cams if he shot with one now). So, what I mean is that the adapter image is freakin' awesome, and that the person behind the camera knew what he was doing.

Composition was professional, shot choice, even the drastic "LOOK I'M AN ADAPTER" Shallow DOF isn't in that footage, which makes it look even better.

So, now? There's a third one in my top list. Welcome back, G35.

Edit here: And, I won't be straying from the Letus EX any time soon. If I had to, it would be hard to choose between a Flipped SGpro and a Flipped G35 at this point. The Letus, however, works out in every aspect for me (yeah, Bokeh to... don't you Bokeh crazies come after me!) and it's not going anywhere any time soon. I get rental calls all the time for it. : D I'm is love it.

but what about people that understand this and are carefull enough? hehe... I feel like I was just called a 3rd grader... :) hey, I actually payed $20 for a canned air pouch that I wear with complete geek pride, AND the bling (metal nozzle) :)

nah, seriously though... it would be nice... not that the G35 isn't an amazing ground breaking piece of equipment just because of it's 1.4 rating, the brokeh looks like the real deal! and there is nothing like that out there

SGpro's Bokeh is a strong competitor if not a direct match. When studied and used properly, the LetusEX can produce great results, beyond acceptable.

At this point, you have to consider what you want out of adapters mostly. Less light loss or better out-of-the-box Bokeh? Lightweight or Built-like-a-tank?

Flipped-in-one-unit or add-another-piece? The G35 is ground breaking in it's own right: The closest to a static glass like that costs thousands dollars more and is quite the ugly sucker (Yeah, I'm talkin about YOU MovieTube).

It DEfINITELY deserve it's merits. 1.4 stops of light is a trade-off for no moving parts, etc.

hehehe... I guess my double negative messed the comunication up this time

I most defenitely meant that it IS ground-breaking, earth shattering and just plain AWSOME!

It is likely to be just about bullet-proof tough and arguably THE best picture overall even at this early stage in it's life... I ain't no DP but I sure felt I was watching super 16 or something

Contribute achievement of the film look to several of the things I outlined above, largely frame composition. There were shots when "DOF" wasn't even exhibited. Merely edge-to-edge clarity and diffusion.

I think what you might be searchin' for is "I felt like I was watchin'a movie or something".

=P And that's what we're trying to get to, aren't we?

no, I meant film...

not DoF... film

the GG does more than just allow for DoF Kohli... it was perhaps a bit underexposed S16 but it looked like film grain to my un-educated eyes

You're sleepy. I just said that.

Although you must've seen something different than I did. I didn't see ANY ground glass in that image. Only HVX noise.

I see.. yea I missed that line and I am very sleepy... sorry about posting this tired
but so I was right baout feeling I was seeing under-exposure... but it looked like S16 underexposed... nothing at all like the HVX's noise!
