Glad to hear you're getting what you like out of it!
Having got a handle on the skin tone blowouts it is really only that posterisation which is bugging me... anyone got a magic setting to avoid that?
Thanks, Barry, this is no doubt the explanation for the AF100's color-shifted highlights that Art Adams pointed out in his ProVideo Coalition review:...If you increase the brightness to where the skintone is at 80 IRE, the red channel will be maxxed out. It cannot go any higher, it's already reading out at 100 IRE on the red channel or, as sampled in PhotoShop, it's at 255. If you turn up the brightness any higher, red will be clipped. The other colors (green and blue) will still get brighter, but red cannot -- it's already at maximum. The result is that you'll get a color shift in your image. The proportions will no longer be right.
Here’s my biggest complaint about clipping on the AF-100:

Those brake lights aren’t supposed to be orange. They’re an orange red, and while most other cameras would render them as clipped red this camera seems to say to itself, “I see a clipped red channel and a clipped green channel, so I’m just going to mix those two clipped values together.” When you mix red and green you get orange. It’s not an attractive look.
