A Film I'm currently shooting based on a play I wrote a while back.

Synopsis(Unofficial): A guy(Adam) takes a drunk girl(Chloe) home one night, and does absolutely nothing with her. When she wakes up in the morning from a massive hangover, they get to know each other a bit better, and decide to stay friends. Over the next three years we see their lives change, as Adam becomes a successful artist, and Chloe's love life changes with the seasons.

Story is about them, and their relationship and where it goes from there.

Not necessarily a romantic comedy, but more of a character piece, aimed to taking on cliche's and tackling them. Hopefully it'll work =) The film takes place mostly in the apartment, but the concept behind it is, that Adam's life changes radically year to year, and as it does, so does his apartment. The plan is to make the change not only reflect him, but reflect the surroundings in such a way that the location FEELS different to the audience every scene. So while were at the same place, the set changes drastically from year to year, if you get my drift.

We shot some footage yesterday, so here's my fairly shi*ty attempt at a poster:

That sound very cool. Good luck. By the by, are you a fan of the the 1962 Agnes Varda film, "Cleo from 5 to 7", a film from the "Rive Gauche" (Left Bank) cinema movement? With your title, some might think you were influenced by it. However, with that poster, you kind of get the impression that Chloe is going to end up a "Fatal Attraction" type psycho b*tch.

Oh no she's not "insane". She's just the party girl who doesn't want to be the party girl anymore. She dates different guys to try and fit into what her idea of "love" is... so at one point she's dating a Bro, another point she has a fiancee, another she's dating the asshole who cheats on her. She tries to shift herself into an idea of "love", and not to mention she's a bit of an alcoholic. But I do love those films =)

The poster is more of a funny thing. Something along the lines of "Here is a beautiful women, she's drunk, and she wants you... this is the scariest thing you have ever experienced." Which is kind of how Adam feels in that first scene. It's pretty fun. =)

With all due respect, if you are looking for a honest response to your synopsis , which may not be the case because you have all ready decided to make this feature, I would suggest studying a bit more fundamental story concepts before making the film the way it is. You said you hope it works. Hoping is doubt disguised as a positive, when in reality its your smart critical mind saying to you " hey maybe I need to make a few more calculations and read a couple more chapters. I hope this post does not offend you because that's not my intent. My reaction to what you posted did not appeal to my sensibility or basic emotional reactions that come with any well formed story premise. I didn't sense the antagonism of the film which is the fundamental source of the emotional involvement response from the audience . The source from where you can provoke enthusiasm and identification for your main character. For example, think of the film where you felt anger and disgust toward the antagonism of the story because it represented something so negative in the world. That reaction made the experience real for you and increased your emotional participation and importance of the characters goal to restore balance from that negative state of things. This is just once concept that can be employed in a story. There are many, however I did not sense any in the premise and I encourage you as a film maker to sacrifice the immediate pleasure of directing and making a film and study up to raise the films effectiveness for us the audience. Speaking to everyone who loves movie making , I find the most challenging thing to avoid is the seduction into error due to intense happy emotional drives for the immediate gratification of a intention as enjoyable as making a movie . Have a good one.

It was a mock up synopsis I wrote up before I left the house to start shooting again. =/ I pretty much just posted the concept, and most of what you're saying is just assumption anyway.

Wasn't really offended, but a bit of an overreaction I would say when you haven't even read the script =/

Well, good luck. I hope everything works out. How far along shooting would you say you are at this point?

BTW, the poster kind of gives me a Jennifer's Body kind of "She's coming home with you... be afraid" kind of vibe. From the sounds of it, that's not exactly what the story is about. So, although it's Adam's initial reaction to bringing her home the first time, it doesn't seem to misrepresent the story more than anything.

The synopsis seems to have some potential. I can't wait to see the final cut. I found myself agreeing with the other poster, although it sounds like that synopsis in the OP also didn't represent the story too well. If you have some free time, maybe you could post a little more about the story and structure.

Good luck.

For sure. I'll do that today. Maybe change the poster too.

The post was meant as a feedback tool. The goal was not a malicious judgment to destroy your film making integrity . lol . Hope your film goes good.
