Final Fantasy Game Series

Kingdom Hearts is an amazing cross-over game. Every single bit of information pertaining to the Disney Universe was handled with extreme care and equally so the SquareSoft(Enix) Universe. They meld VERY well while managing to create all NEW characters to become attached to.

Sora and Riku are amazing hybrid's of the Diseny and Square world. Can't believe how well they're doing with this series.

KH2 strikes up some tears at times, no lie.

I have not finished KH2 but from what I have played so far, it is great. KH3 looks amazing. Check out the screen grabs from the teaser preview on the KH2 disk!

Controversial. That's supposed to be "Another time. Another story". Just not confirmed if the next installment in the franchise is an actual MOVIE or the story of the Keyblade Wars.

Whatever it is, it'll be interesting.

Woohoo! I am playing my FF7 discs now on the PS3. It has a great smoothing feature that lets them look rocking on my 50 inch LCD even though it is uprezzing like crazy. I feel giddy...man I am a nerd. But I love it! My wife is now playing too for the first time and she loves it too.

ff7 is the introduction to the series for most people. it's the breaking your cherry syndrome. people i know who played 6 first cherish 6 as their favorite. and same w/ 8, or 10. with 9, i felt it was a fun filler FF, not anything spectacular but a good in between. i personally didn't like 10 because i really don't like american dubbing in games (minus kingdom hearts and a few others) but ff always feels the worst. 12 was a great turn around but i felt like the combat system and engine was more compelling than the story, and i personally want a remake of xenogears. (not xenosaga! xenoGEARS!)

side note.

nobody's counting dirge of cerberus ? rofl, atrocious game.

and crisis core isn't bad either. anybody want to count the advent children movie too? i can't wait till all gaming has the looks and quality of what advent children looks like. if there is a console that's gonna do it, ps3 will.

(not a sony fanboy, i have all 3 next gen consoles i just know the capabilites of each, and ps3 out does xbox. xbox just has more games and better online)

Crisis Core is good material. Too many FF7 Spin-oFfs but I guess the universe was pretty extensive.

I've got Dirge of Cerberus sitting right in front of me and I've never played it. Odd.

it's not worth playing kholi. just find all the cut sequences online and watch them, you'll get the whole story just by doing that. the game is like...raped devil may cry.

I started playing Dirge and then stopped due to lack of interest. I haven't played Crisis Core but some of the Cut scenes I have seen for it are amazingly done. I really hope they make a re rendered FF7. It would be cool to change absolutely nothing about the game, just the graphics.

i have issues w/ the crisis core combat system. it's very clunky. real time combat, but dodge roll and blocking does virtually nothing, i get hit all the time and get damaged constantly. but the story is the most worrthwhile part. i mean they made kingdom hearts, u think they could apply what they did with the combat engine in their other games. i missed dodge roll in kh2 :[

as for re rendered ff7, don't you think that having a super pretty advent children style remake will kill the charm of ff7? can you imagine cloud wearing a teira in super high res graphics? or even some of the mini games? they'd have to take that out, and i think that was a huge part of the charm of what ff7 had to offer. it didn't have to take itself seriously all the time.

just my 2 cents on it at least.

Same here.

Big fan, from IV to VII. The rest, however, was lacklustre. The only other one I played to the end was X, and it had very average story.

My Final Fantasy experience is divided by these 4 main elements: Story, Music (Uematsu is brilliant), turn based gameplay (I love it, with the summons being the icing on the cake), and breathtaking graphics...or cinematography.

FInal Fantasy games always felt like interactive movies, to me.

While the first 3 FF's I played (IV, V, VI) felt more like interactive comic books, where my imagination served has the "director" to create the visual drama of the characters, the later ones VII and X, for example, felt more like interactive movies.

well i think that's where the cinematic value of video games have come into play over the last few years. games are mimicing cinema more and more these days. if u look at mass effect and tons of other games at boot. everything is leading more towards a cinema style. every game even has a cinema department now just for the cut sequences to feel more filmic. you'll have DOF and focus pulls in cut sequences now, light like it was done by a professional DP.

which is why the game industry more and more is pushing to be considered an art form rather than just casual entertainment. there are still people arguing today that "film" isn't art in a traditional sense. i'm not gonna get into that, but it's true. and i think it's a wonderful and a bad thing at the same time that games are becoming more like a interactive movie. just a new wave of gaming for a new era. so even as a interactive movie, you still see a big vision of a emulated like a film would from a director, cinematographer, screenwriter. every game is put together like a film when you think about it, except you have voice actors instead of live actors (and a lot of the time you have the movement of the characters simulated with motion sensors on real live people) but everything else is like a film.

so when you think about it, there always have been and will be a "director" of visual drama for the characters, the story, and life of the game.

Infinitely. I'm on with every ponit you made. Nobou Uematsu's music was, is, and will always be fan-freakin' tastic. I actually had no interest in the FF7:AC revisions of his music, though.

The guy rocks way too hard.

All of the later titles play out VERY Cinematically, that's where Nomura took over. I don't mind them so much, I hope that the newer games drift backward a little.

I absolutely agree. I would love some backwards drift to the "good ole days"
