Chinese Follow Focus with hard stops

Make sure you get the newest model. You will be able to flip the indicator out of the way. Mine new updated model is on it's way. Should be here in a week.

That's what I thought. I was a bit confused because I saw a picture where it looked like the focus indicator moved about 90 degrees. There might be some slight confusion as there are multiple production models out there. I will have to contact them. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

you can flip the indicator upside to disable the hard stops, but you can't move the indicator to another position in general. Thats all...

Hi everyone,

I have received my NF4 couple of days ago, I was very happy because the FF looks good and solid. It was the new modal with the adjustable indicator marker. Soon I went for a test with my 24mm-105mm on my 7D. I find that the adjustable arm wasn't as solid as it would, once I snapped the FF on the 15mm rod, as everybody would, I tried to adjust to the right position in order to attach the drive the and the lens gear by tightening the lock to started. I start to turn wheel clockwise and counterclockwise to make sure the gears are engaged... After a few play the gears went loose and disconnected. I then address the issue was the adjustable arm section has been loosen, I tried to tighten the locker real hard... again and again the problem seems remain unchanged.

After that, I contacted the sales, she ask me to take some photos or to make a video, explain the issue (she answered me very politely). I eventually did a video and have the video emailed. Hopefully they could quickly address the issue caused  Does anybody here have the same problem? Or any answer to the solution would be very much appreciated.

Hey,

I have the same issues, but I also got another extension arm, so I can choose which one I want to use. The second arm is fix, so it works perfectly.

It looks to me like you need to slide the FF in further, and allow it to sit on the gear with some tension on the spring. That way, it will have a long way to slide to become disengaged.

Capisce?

No, I've tried it would work simply because the arm will leave loose no matter how tight you lock the screw, NF4 has NO slider is and yet the extension arm is not a fixed model like NF2.

I have contacted TRUSMT about the issue, they promised to send a new NF2 extension arm as replacement. Hope the NF2 works as good as mentioned.

Edge zone,

Once the new extension arm arrives can u post if it helped any.

I now have two Nf2 from them and both units exhibits the same problem!!!! Mine are very firm unless I apply pulling force to make it move...

I can say however, I was shooting a friend that was having a baby. I shot video off and on from 11-7. And it never once loosened.

Hi Ikwan,

My NF2 extension arm hasn't arrived I guess it would by tomorrow or a after. I will post an update here once I tested it...

I was confused about your units have the same problem as the extension arm seems to be loosened or it is rock solid?

My opinion is as I am having NF4 with "quick release" arm were not a fixed modal, because I can't figure out if NF4 extension arm is a fixed modal then it wouldn't have the flexibility to engage the gear to your lens, correct me if I am wrong? Unlike NF2 provides the slide in system, therefore the fixed extension arm is theoretically applicable as a follow focus.

So those who wants to purchase this item NF2 is an updated version. There is one more issue I wished to address here applies to all TRUSMT follow focus, is the single screw connection between the gear and the extension arm is NOT strong enough in long term usage.... an additional screw needs to be added in order to hold two parts together. I will post an update, together with pictures of my friend's modified version.

Hey Guys,

I had several email contacts with Trusmt the last few days and i'm really impressed by the way these guys unterstand their customer service. I spoke with John Lee and he told me, that they are about to make some improvements to solve the little problems with the FF. He promised to sent me the improved parts, once they are available. This is real customer service!

Is he going to second new parts for free? They weren,t willingly to give me any free replacement parts.

Edge zone.

Sorry to be confusing. Both my FF are solid with out any movement as long as I am just turning the knob. They haven't loosened on their own like you had shown.

But I can pull outward on the knob, with some force and then it will loosen on both units.

I may try a video tos how what I am, so you can see for yourself if it is the same problem you are having.

I noticed that majority of people on this thread who rave about this product have posts of under 10. Some have even just the one post. "Oh, I just bought one, and it's great!" "Well, Obbladi Obbadah!!" Seems to me as if they came into this forum expressly for the purpose of planting glowing reviews. Until I see a poster with reputable 3-digit post history on this forum, I'd take anything these "one-digit-post-junior-members" say with a grain of salt. Nobody knows who you are, for all we know, you work for the manufacturer or are affiliated with the manufacturer. There's a paid glowing review of this product on Vimeo. Not your average reviewer, fantastic graphics, posing as a customer. Dubious, shady, dubious. Will the real Follow focus users please speak up. Can we have some senior members chime in if they have experience with this product? I'm in the market for a follow-focus and was about to pull the trigger on this Trusmt but this is very off-putting with all these 1-post, 2-post, 3 post four accolades. Not very trustworthy.

"Our arrows will block out the sun!"
"So what punk, we brought HMIs."

dtzfilms it seems that this is a newer generation follow focus with some...problems. In another forum people complaining about malfuctions with moving arm.

You get what you pay I suppose.

DTZ, I have to say.. it's not bad.. not bad at all.. I got the NTG-3 model w the 19mm rails mount.. and there isnt any play at all.. Nice and stiff and pretty smooth.. only thing that annoyed me is that vertical adjustment.. it slides around a lot.. so I got a lock washer w teeth from Home depot and it helped it pretty good.. and I got a plyer and tightened it, and that held it for me.

Also mine had two gears on each side.. and i need to take one side off.. and it was almost impossible. I had to pry it off and it came off.. but nothing was damaged.. it's just really stuck in there!

again.. not a bad product for the price! I just dont like the ghetto name on the wheel.. so I'm trying to take that off.. :)

for those who want to know what I used..

It works ok.. still slides but brought it down a bit for me to say, ok, that should be fine for now..
