Chinese Follow Focus with hard stops

a friend of mine got this FF . got a chance to compare it with shoot35. Shoot35 is professional quality device and puts this c$ap into shame no matter how many hard stops it has.

Well there still seems to be some conflicting opinions on the quality, unless you'd like to shoot a video an enlighten people with proof of the difference.

How to remove hard stops

How to remove hard stops

The original poster said that to turn the unit more than 360 degrees, to just remove the hard stops with the screws. I'm finding it's not so easy.

What are all you guys doing when you just want the FF to turn freely without hard stops. Sometimes when I'm just shooting casually, I don't want the stops...but I'm not finding any way to remove the stops. Is everyone just using this FF with the stops always on...or am I missing something?

HAHA... back in 2000, i visited my mom's family in hong kong. I took to my my mom's youngest brother quickly because we were both very into gadgets.

He told me the exact thing below. There are always the easil distinguishable copies of products, but there are times that the fakes indistingiable because they are made in the same factories with the same workers using the same machines to build the REAL ones...

Chinese R&D at it's finest (receive and duplicate).

These are probably made during a ghost shift at the facility Letus outsourced the manufacturing to. It's nothing new or out of the ordinary, just ask the fashion industry. Guess that's the price you pay for trying to take advantage of a cheap largely unregulated foreign labor market, lol.

Hey Guys,

after reading this thread (and others) for several times, I just had the pleasure to unbox my Trusmt NF2 follow focus. It arrived within 7 days, cause there have been some issues with the address. Anyways, 7 days is still pretty fast. I've waited longer on some items that just has been shipped in the country. Did i mention that I live in Germany?

Back to topic! I finally received the FF just an hour ago and I want to share my first impressions. After unboxing the FF I found, that there was another rod clamp in the box, so i got two clamps for one FF, which is great. The look and feel so far is great. The FF has NO noticeable backlash. If there is some, I'm not able to feel it and I'm a sensible guy ;) The greatest surprise was, that Trusmt seems to have changed the way the hard stops work. The focus indicator, which has obviously been fixed, is removable now! Now you are abled to pull focus with the hard stops or, by removing the indicator, turning the focus wheel full 360° (or 720°, or 1080°). In my opinion, this is a great improvement. I hope the FF will be as good in action, as it looks in the box. Can't wait to attach it to my rig.

Hope my first impressions are useful for you guys. By the way, I'm just a customer at Trusmt, I don't know any of these guys personally, neither am I married to the boss daughter or whatever.

Greetings from Germany

T

Can also take a pic of both rod clamps.

I just got mine last week and I have the old design NF2 and I didn't get a spare rod clamp!!!

Here are some crappy iPhone pics, but i think they show exactly what they should. First pic is the FF prepared for using hard stops, second one shows how the hard stops are disabled by raising the indicator. Last pic obviously shows both clamps. The spare clamp is a cheaper one, but I think its more about the raiser in case the adjustable won't work as good as it should.

EDIT: The pics are quite good for my phone :)

I'm so frustrated!!! I bought mine on aug 31st. 7 days later they come out with the new design!!!

I have emailed trusmt, and I'm waiting for their reponse!

Wooohooo, now we are talking. This gear looks even more tactical than the RED stuff.

Anyone speaking Chinese?

Hi,

It would be interesting to know a clear descriptions with different forms and technologies brought between the product of TRUSMT follow focus NF2 and FF NF4? It has no clear clarification neither on eBay or trusmt.com in order to feature its product. As we only can only relay to forum, threads have result, regardless of eBay which posted the same feature and trust.com; hence, without having a clear spec, conflict, less opinions on the quality of the product...

Greeting fron KL

NF2 has more horizontal movement so that if you have a wide assortment of lenses you will be able to keep the FF knob completely veritcal.

NF4 you will not have as much adjust ablility but one less lever to lock down so you can setup faster.

i went with the nf2. when you buy one make sure you ask for the latest model. They have not update their site or ebay pages yet to reflect changes is their design.

As Tobsn001 showed, that the focus indicator now flips up out of the way so if you have lenses that rotate 200 degrees or more ie. Zeiss Ze lens, the hard stops will no longer need to be remove or loosened to freely hang at bottom of FF.

Thanks fro your advise Ikwan. I just received my NF4 today.... 1st impression; looks great, rock solid gear, ZERO backlash and with a new foldable marker, free screws, knobs, extra 0.8 plastic gear and my matte box ... Awesome!!!

I also fine that the so call "easy release" isn't easy; especially the knob opener is in the way and blocking you trying to lock and unlock. I got mine fixed later... Sorry... for not being detail bcos I got to go work.... getting late.... Don't understand of how they come along... When TRISMT decided to produce their own product they don't just copy, NO sense of creative input interns of technology or an improvement but making worse... "YOU GUYS DONT DESERVE THIS".
Overview is GOOD product :)

Question about the NF2/NF4 for those who have it. The focus marker. Can you change it's orientation or is it always set to "up"?
I guess the same question about the Tilta as that actually looks pretty nice too.
I'm at a weird point where my RedRock V2 has seen too much action, but I'm not quite ready to drop $800 on the V3 as I'm really just looking for something with hard stops.
