GH2 Cheap Follow focus...well focus assist really...but only $2.50 !!!!!!

If anybody finds out where in Europe we can buy these, I´d be more than happy. I only find trudeau childrens plastic plates and stuff for babies over here...

Thanks for this awesome tip Tony, I love these kind of solutions.

Thx a lot for the info, did watch the video and found one in one of our shops in town. Works great !

It's now free!

Just thought you'd like to know, the latest issue of "Canadian Living" magazine includes one of these for "free". It's a $3.99 magazine, but the Trudeau thingy is included in the bag.

I found mine at "Fairway Foods" here in Victoria BC, but likely can be found at most supermarkets in Canada where they sell these magazines.

Good luck!

Great find... I hear Zacuto is going to print their name on it and charge 179.99... Just kidding... but i'm sure they would.

Nice find.

I've also used 1/4" black zip ties before and they worked, @ 5 to 10 cents each, although not as easily removable as these. But disposable.

I've tried that too. They can be daisy-chained to make as long a "whip" as you want. Pretty good damping action with longer lengths, but the focus pull can take a long time to get started.
I also find that putting a tight rubber band around the focus ring can help to keep the zip tie from slipping.

i/ve been putting wrist bands around the focus ring, the live strong type, and then putting the zip tie around that. doesnt slip at all and i find the bend in zip tie makes for really smooth focusing.

Pat I'm sorry, but I don't see how this kind of jar opener will work. I think one with a plastic part to tighten the loop is better. and Bed Bath and beyond supports them.

Just bought a couple of the rubber ones at Bed Bath and Beyond. They work and are pretty nifty but I can think of much better ones for $2.50. I personally had a friend make one at work with a super long bolt and a metal hose clamp. I use a rubber band to better grip the focus ring. It is cumbersome to swap lenses with this but the stiffness of it really helps grab focus quickly in run and gun shooting. The rubber ones have too much lag and I find myself moving past where I want the focus to be. They are a great concept but I think there are better ones.

The better one is called a follow focus. ;)
