GH2 Cheap Follow focus...well focus assist really...but only $2.50 !!!!!!

I'm going to be stopping by Bed Bath and Beyond tonight me thinks. This guy deserves a medal I think.:costumed-smiley-047

Hey cool! Someone already found my video! These things are AWESOME and CHEAP!!

I'm really amazed at how smooth the pull is on my FD lenses... like butter....

Works on all of them though. Nice since the 14-140 and the 20mm pancake have a really long turn for manual focusing. Looks like crap when you do it with just your hand. These things are a breeze to spin.

Glad you guys like it!

Tony

Outstanding.
Can you give us the brand name and exact title of the twist jar opener please?

You know it just shows how all these niche companies aren't really giving very good reasonably priced solutions to real world issues like this. My father was a metal fabricator and was shocked at the price for cam shoulder supports and steadicams. He knows how much it would take to fabricate stuff like this with this exact functionality, even a one-off custom. I've always though follow focuses were just ridiculously over-priced.

We don't all have unlimited budgets. Not everyone needs professional quality gear that does stuff we would never need it to do.

I hope you don't mind but I submitted your video to cheesycam.com to hopefully put it up on his site. THIS IS AWESOME! Thanks

chauncythedog,

For you and anyone else that wanted to know, the brand name of the Twist Jar Opener is Trudeau.

It says it comes with a 5 year warranty and that it is dishwasher safe!

Made in China and they even have a website:

www.trudeaucorp.com

Enjoy!

I sent you a contact request on vimeo hope that's cool? I'm in the same " no budget" situation so stuff like this is great.

Could this be order online? I went to bbab and they don't have and not even on bbab website! I like to have one so i Can mount it on my lens.

great idea, I prefer the 1$ follow focus using a hose clamp and a long screw. ITs a bit STIFFER and more solid feeling, though the Iv not tried it on the focus by wire, types of lenses yet...

Nice find.

I've also used 1/4" black zip ties before and they worked, @ 5 to 10 cents each, although not as easily removable as these. But disposable.
