Charity fashion promo

Hi guys,

Would love some constructive criticism on a short promo piece I shot in a day.

Ungraded. http://tinyurl.com/3njh9r3

Cheers,

My basic comment would be that there were a number of shots where the forground clutter distracted from the obvious subjects of the shot. For example at 00:19, we see a tree trunk (shrub whatever...) and then something moving in the distance... are we looking at Sasquatch??? some stalker and be treated, fashionably, to some sort of slasher excess...

Clutter can also be seen at around 01:09 or so, with a couple kissing. The forground 'fuzz' doesn't add anything to the shot...

If this is a 'fashion' presentation, I think you can move in closer, and get details of the attire, accessories, have the couples with 'hands on' type moving the viewer to note things... a classic, perhaps cliched trope would be to have the woman adjust the guy's tie... Or in the backless dress shot, the man's hand... well... exploring terra incognita... or at least giving the impression thereof...

Look into "trash the dress" video edits. Similar genre, and often are good examples of high quality work.

Well, no... I could find a hundred bad examples too, just like I could find a hundred good examples.
In terms of coloring and technique, is why I suggested looking at those as examples.
Its mostly the camera man and the editing that tell the story in these, cuz these people aren't actors. So its a good place to "start" for ideas.
To be honest, I dont see how you think a promo for charity / fashion would be any different in terms of "film making."

Heck, here is even a grungy style that I would never consider... but has interesting pieces that I would consider using.

I was trying to add a bit of foreground colour I guess.

For me... not being a 'fashion' photographer... however, did do the 'second camera' to support the Wife's wedding biz... there was a lot of 'lack' on the actual attire. In the first sequence, yeah you have a few wide shots, showing the full lenght, you have a lot of closeups of the couple, either together or individually, but you don't have too much in the way of details of the attire.

Buttons, folds, hands moving over the fabric, showing the 'sheen', etc. details of the small accents... The attire is formal, and so, rather than perhaps like dungarees, one wants to show the 'details'... ok, for women the accent on the butt in Levis... but I digress...

Everything from the shoes, shoe buckle, to the hair styling...
