C100: Car mount question

Hey all

I'm shooting a narrative short film in a few weeks and I'm looking for a decent car mount solution for the C100. I can rent a hostess tray from my local rental co. for shots where I'll have two people talking OTS, but am looking for something more versatile for shots like a wide 2-shot from dashboard, hood mounted look at driver, and maybe hood mounted looking out at the road. I've been looking at something like the Camtree G-91. Just feel a little iffy with putting the C100 + Ninja2 on one of these, regardless of how light the C100 is. Has anyone got experience mounting a C100 on something similar?

I can always use my old 5D2 for some external shots mind you but obviously would like to try and keep all the footage on the C100.

Cheers.

I've used the filmtools carmount (3pt) with my C100 and it got the job done.. Where in SFL are you?

Hey Kastro - I'm in Palm Beach! Lake Worth area.

Is that mount a solid solution ie no vibrations or anything? I was going to go with the hostess tray for the dialogue heavy scenes since it would be very sturdy, whereas the suction mounts look like they would be more prone to vibrations or any little bump. I'm shooting the dialogue scenes on a dirt road on an old truck so it's definitely not a smooth road.

*sent you PM. Give me a shout, we can link up and I'll show you raw footage with it. You're right down the street. :D

*everyone else:
I did get some vibrations when mounted on the side like that, but when I had it on the hood it was good and smooth. I believe the IS would offset some of that vibration (should your lens have it).

Basically you need leveling head 3 suction cups and some 3/8 or 5/8 rods and misc grip hardware and you can mount your camera almost anywhere on a car. I've been making mounts for my C300 with the above mentioned basics and have done well with just that stuff. The C300 also has the Wifi port and with a wifi dongle one can mount the camera outside the car and use an iPad or laptop to get a reasonable live view from the camera and also control, iris, iso, stop - start, and other camera parameters while inside the vehicle or nearby chase vehicle.
