Is this a bad idea? Using Capture Now and picking up a 720p stream through the firewire of a Macbook 2.4 GHz with 2GB RAM?

I'm trying to tape a 3 hour show straight, to match the feed into a Firestore on my 2nd camera, and it would take far too many P2's, nor can I afford another firestore. My other option is to go with SD in both, and firestore one while using the tape deck on the 2nd camera, but obvioulsy this is a more painful solution...

onlocation. Used it all last summer, worked great. It pulls out the redundant frames live, so you're looking at around the same storage reqs as P2. So maybe 100 Gigs of available storage?

Are you shooting 720/24p with onLocation removing the frames to achieve the equivalent of pNative.

If so, it is about 40 minutes per 16 GBs of storage - about 90 gigabytes needed.

But you are writing for a continuous 180 minutes. That MB will get toasty

Yeah 720/24p. I did some 2 hour shots, it got a little warm, but nothing unusual. I did, however, have the luxury of a power outlet nearby.
