Capture Sratch Drive Full error?

After using P2CM to copy files onto an external drive, i'm using FCP on a g5 to important the files. Some of the files import alright and then a few of the time-lapse and longer files come up with (after almost importing all the way) the error message:

"The Current Capture Scratch drive(s) are too full. Please remove files from these drives or select a new capture scratch location."

However, there is over 250gig free on the drive. Anyone run into this problem? Thanks.

You probably already found some way around your problem, but I have had the same one.
It stems from the format of your external hard drive. Most externals are formated to run on both Mac an PC and thus uses a FAT format. This format only supports files up to a certain size (4.something Gb). You will have work from another hard disk or simply capture your files in several parts, all smaller than the 4Gb (4 minutes when running 1080). And yes, when filming andcapturing from cards on a pc, you can put files larger than that on the drive. I don't know how the system manages to surpass the size limit when doing that.
