Can't copy P2 data to HDD on a Mac!

I'm trying to copy the contents of a P2 card to a Mac-formatted external firewire drive. All options are available (Format HDD, Property, Setup), except "Copy to HDD". Any wisdom out there as to why this should be?

Is the drive formatted FAT32? If not, try that..

No. it's Mac OS X extended. I formatted it in FAT32 and the computer hated me for it. Does this mean you can only copy to a FAT32 drive?

It all depends on the devices and workflow you are using. You omitted all that.

You can't copy to the HDD unless you format it first. That's why "format" is there, but "copy" isn't.

So make absolutely sure that the drive is empty, because when the camera formats it everything on it will disappear.

The computer doesn't do it if you are copying from cam to HDD; the cam formats it.
