C100: Canon's 24-70 IS II vs. 24-105 IS?

I'm looking to put one or the other on my Canon C.
Anyone have any practical input on optics comparison? Image stabilization?
Thanks.

Optically the 24-70 is going to be better but if you need the range and IS then the 24-105 is a better chose. Also the new Sigma 24-105 is supposed to be pretty good.

I am talking about the newer 24-70/f4, which also has IS (a newer version since the 24-105). It's supposedly a better version of IS.

What do you need? Does the extra range of the 24-105 interest you? I don't think IS is a factor on which lens is better. I personally don't get the 24-70 f4 IS lens. I think you should rent them both and make a decision because they are both very similar.

I used to think the newer hybrid IS would be a huge gain, but in practise it hardly matters and the range of the 24-105 is way more useful. If not for the range I'd just slap on the 17-55mm 2.8 IS.

I bought the Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC couple months ago. Is near the PQ of the C24-70 2.8 II, and the IS is as good as any canon's. Price was less then the C 24-70 f4 IS when I bought it.

Except some people do not like the direction of the focus and Zoom ring which is opposite of Canon's .
