Canon T2i which package?

Henrys.ca has two different packages with kit lens. They have the T2i with

  • w/ EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Zoom
  • & EF 75-300mm/4-5.6 USM II/III AF

Or for $100 more they have the

  • EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Zoom
  • & EF-S 55-250mm 4-5.6 IS Lens
Which 1 would be better for video? I would be shooting mostly music videos and interviews.

Thanks in advance.

That site is HIGHLY overpriced, look around and you can buy that same camera with lenses for at least $100 cheaper.

Extra Canon 55-250mm lens

$899. + 242.87 = $1141.87 as opposed to $1299 that the website you are trying to buy from. Heck you can even add a 50mm 1.8 for an extra $100 (http://www.buy.com/prod/canon-ef-50...-lens-f-1-8-canon-ef/q/loc/111/202894669.html) and still be less ($1241.87)

Or buy it all on ebay for about the same price or a little less and get Bing Cashback on everything , which would be about ( About $99 in 60 days deposited into your paypal account)

Now regarding the lenses for Music videos, they will work great as long as you understand their limitations ( basically you need LIGHT )

peace

You would be better off buying the body only and getting a single fast (2.8) zoom to start out, If you can swing that you will be happier than having two lower quality lenses. The Tamron 17-50mm VC F2.8 is the best bang for the buck all around lens. You don't really need anything longer for most shots. You could always add an 85mm prime later. You need to remember that there are tons and tons of other expenses you will need to cover.

Memory cards
Shoulder support and possibly follow focus for hand held work.
Fluid head tipod
Monitors (plus possibly adapters for hdmi to sdi wich are not cheap $500)
Lighting
Sound
Edit

Yes it is a sickness

Oh ya buy from someone else like B&H or Adorama. I bought mine at a local camera shop because they had body only packages that are hard to find now and I support my local business wherever possible. You can buy from them online :: kennmore camera http://kenmorecamera.com/

I was also looking at Henry's too. I think these prices are fair though because I also checked at Future Shop and they have the exact same prices there too. Henry's is throwing in their 100th anniversary camera bag too ($190 retail) and you also get the legendary Henry's service, support and they stand behind their products 100%.

I also asked this same question a few days ago in this forum but, alas, no one replied haha.

I was thinking of getting the T2i body alone and picking up the 2.8 EF-S 17-55mm lens as well but at $1100 - $1400 for this lens, you are paying for it too.

I'm still pondering perhaps just getting the package with the 18-35mm 3.5 lens (for $100 more than getting the body), at least I'll have a lens to use if I'm just taking pics for fun.

Remember with buy.com, you are still paying for the currency conversion, shipping to Canada and you'll have to pay duty on it too (Canada Customs will nick you for it for sure). That being said, I'm not sure if you are in Canada or not since Henry's does ship worldwide too.

I played with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 on a friends camera once, and I hope I will never have to touch it again.

The images look nice, but it the aperture is very limiting. Keep in mind you do not have f/3.5 at 55mm. Focusing action was down right horrid.

I got the kit from Henry's, worked out great for me.
So what if the kit lens is not fast, its only 100$, and you
get a bit of a zoom rather then spending that 100$ on
the 1.8 50mm as your only lens to start.
Also, you might be able to sell the kit lens for 150$,
so theres investment right there.

That camera bag.... I HATE it, maybe its just me, but it feels
too small and tiny, and its awkward to have on my back so I
just carry it around by hand, might switch back to my 10$ used
1990s camera bag.

But I got 4 years total coverage on the body for $100 and some more.
Also for 15$ I got the 2 year trade in on the battery, so if my battery
starts to crap out, I get it replaced.

Also I had the bonus of having some old gear and traded in a bunch of 10$
thrift store lens' for 20$ each towards my purchase, and saved the tax.

If your in Canada, I highly vote you get the kit from Henry's.
Friendly ppl who know their stuff
Better and cheaper warranty then FS or BB
Trade in
Battery replacement plan 15$

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend getting the kit with the 2nd lens.
Take the 300$ that is above the basic kit, and get a better lens or
an audio recorder, H4N is 300$

thanks for the replies. I ended up getting the T2i with the 18-55 kit lens, 2 year warranty, then I ordered some memory cards, up next I have an extra battery, Zoom H4n, a new tripod and once I figure out what lens to get that i'll grab that.
