Canon T2i Owners = Where's the footage, where's the beef?????

I'm pretty certain the lens itself makes a big difference but really, the "eyes" of the camera wouldn't make much of a difference without the "brain" behind it if that makes any sense. I'm sure you're going to be as blown away as I am at the image quality this cam puts out.

That lens is pretty common amongst canon shooters. Sure its expensive but I wouldn't say its uncommon.

I'll say it's pretty common. It's the standard kit lens for the 5DII. Just by the fact that that's the lens he used and wants to do video, I would say he took it off his 5DII and put it on his T2i when he bought his T2i body only. Yep, I'm Sherlock Holmes. :-)

Hey Chris, some of the wide shots seems to be very soft or a little out of focus, I suggest you get a loop like a Z-finder, it will help with focusing.

I scene you have some footage of the GH1, quick thoughts without starting some kind of flame war...... What do you think when compared to that camera?

Thanks!

That's my next purchase. Hopefully I'll get better on my own with the focusing (as I think I did near the end of the shoot) but it never hurts to get some help. Thanks for looking and your feedback!

Never shot with the GH1. The other clips on my Vimeo page are from my trusty FX1. Compared to the FX1, this is like going from SD to HD all over again.

If you have good eyesight, and I think you are, don't remember seeing you with glasses, you might want to check out the lcdvf, a lot cheaper than Z-Finder cuz it doesn't have the diopter adjustment.

Will probably get the LCDVF as I'm getting two of each for everything. What's the consensus on the Hoodman loupes? They're less expensive but if they're inferior quality, I don't want to get it.

Thanks and I hope more people will share their work with this camera. It's pretty impressive!

Where can I get a small sample video clip from it ( not QT or Vimeo) just the ORIGINAL video clip as shot from the camera without ang modification like 10 seconds of it at 1080p, as I need it to see if my computer can handle it in it's software and the time it takes to encode, edit and so on. I hate to buy and then see I don't like the workflow or quality.

Its a .mov because Canon uses .mov containers straight out of camera.

Also, not all video players, codecs and NLEs have the same level of speed. Just because one NLE or player or codec is too slow on your system does not necessarily mean you can't edit or view with another set of software.

Downloaded the .mov file test. I mean the small clip of the church facade, I am not impressed. Stuttering, motion, seems to skip. I really cannot shoot a wedding like that. I don't know what the hype is, but if Canon has that as the best to offer, good luck. It's not my computer. I have a Mac Pro with FCP and 16G ram (nehelem processors). It's definitely not my mac.

Oh, ok. I see what you mean. Thats not the camera, thats just 24fps. The pan could have been a bit smoother but 24fps has its quirks. You can totally shoot a wedding at 24fps, you just have to know to work with it. Or you can just switch to 30fps if you'd like.

Let me try again. Is there anywhere I can download a Straight Raw .mov Canon T2i short clip without any compression or manipulation at it's Highest quality 30fps preferably shot by someone with a relatively steady hand or better still, on a tripod of a scene with say 100 to 400 asa? I just want to see what the camera can do and if my editing system is up to snuff. I'm sure glad it isn't in that AVCHD crap format.

I'm not on my main computer right now, but is the movie file not playable? Is it bad camera work, or what? I mean if your macpro can't handle the file.....?

What do you guys recommend for transcoding video to 720p?

The downloaded sample clip of the front of the church (the first one) skips as it is panning from the roof cross to the entrance door. That kind of skipping is a no-no especially when there is fast dancing in weddings. It must be in HD 1080p or nothing. My customers are a demanding lot and 720p on their 1080p large LCD screens is also a no-no.

Its typical 24fps during a pan. You see it every time in the theater and to a lesser degree on TV.

Maybe I'm missing something here but unless you are printing your final work to film, isn't 24P an unnecessary step? Won't it just be transcoded back to 29.97 again? Why not skip the middle man and go straight to 30P from the start?

You won't see that in a static shot. It only happens during a pan and at 24fps. 99.9% of hollywood movies have this effect in one or more shots. Its not a flaw in the camera. Its just a combination of 24fps and panning too fast/inconsistently.

You can use 24p outside of real film you know. Even converting 24p to 60i using pulldown isn't the same as just shooting 30p to begin with.
