For what it's worth: After using the R5 for several months in cool weather, without any issues, my first hot weather shoot didn't go as well. I just returned from Malibu, where it was about 80-degrees in direct sun. I shot probably 10 clips, each about 2-minutes in length (4k/120,8-bit) with the latest firmware, and 1/2 way through the morning it started warning about overheating, eventually shutting down during one of the clips. I also had a BMPCC6k Pro, which didn't have any issues.
Are you planning to get the Ninja V+, it looks like a nice option to overcome overheating issues.

It's interesting they say this which I didn't know, if true. (Never followed the general progress after the FW.)

I figured Canon just extended the timer, which is why the product above initially didn't make sense to me upon a first glance, but now does if it controls real heat.

it does.
it runs longer but more important the cool down time is now managed by the temperature sensor and not by the timer.

Never used it, but crazy price for 1TB storage ($550 once added to the cart and it comes with a free card reader).
Unfortunately the reviews are mixed, per usual, and there might be two FW versions of this card (IDK).
But for random b-roll or a lower-quality mode, maybe worth it...

Delkin usually is a quality manufacturer.

The card firmware isn't user upgradeable, but the cards have a lifetime warranty, so if you end up with a card with the older firmware and contact Delkin, they will send you a replacement card.

They should do this with cameras with larger amounts.
I always thought they would sell a few more right away because potential buyers would feel good about spending that additional $1K/$2K on much needed accessories, but don't think B&H would because too much heat would come from previous buyers for doing that.
But now that they release new cameras every year, who cares.

despite all the "progress" they still can't beat the OG cameras. The F35, Alexa, and red MX still outperform many of the "new" budget cinema cameras

maybe there are aspects of the manufacturing process that are critical to the processing pipeline and quality control but are not becoming cheaper over time
For those who do not have a lot of EF glass the C300 III was dead on arrival, it should have been released with an RF mount! The EF mount is what kept me from pulling the trigger. Now I am waiting to see what they will release here in few months.
On another note Panasonic rumor's mention phase detection on the GH6, I really like Panasonic and would be willing to invest in their system if they introduce solid AF in Full Frame or APSC this year. If not people will be too vested in E-mount and RF that it would make it difficult for Panasonic to add new users.

Yeah, most of the RF glass is high-quality and you might squeeze out a few more pixels/resolution but I don't think the EF mount is a deal-breaker.

But with the RF mount, it could adapt to pretty much any other lens/mount except E.

Def, but no one buys those cameras to not use AF...would be a crazy waste of money, IMO.
The 1% doesn't use Canon and they have all the manual glass they could ever want.
So Canon had two choices and at that time there weren't many affordable RF lenses. They didn't even have a basic, fast 50mm. Plus, we don't know what's up with the ND filters yet and possibly even a new design. Maybe they are still working on it.
