I was told by my dealer before I bought mine that it would be going away and NOT coming back. That did help me make my decision to buy. Just like when I bought my primes. The rebates still haven't been as good as they were then.

It looks like Canon is really interested in moving the C100MKII bodies before the NAB.

Does it appear that there will be new C100 MKIII coming out? Trying to decide on what to buy.

Nobody knows for sure who isn't under NDA but chances seem good for a pre-NAB or NAB intro, based upon previous Canon timelines for new product intros. I am really hoping the price on the C300 MKII drops to $9,999.00 but not holding my breath.

As far as I've surmised so far today even after the GH5 announcements, I think I'm staying the course and continuing to peg the C100 MKII as my first cine camera in a month, unless someone convinces me otherwise! :D

With GH5 out, the demand for the non-4K C100 will be severely tested.
Majority of my clients don't want 4K, and shun it, even when it just means going into the menu to switch to 4K on the C300 Mark II; they don't want to deal with that extra storage and slower post workflow. Many high profile shoots don't shoot 4K either, like Mel Gibson for Hacksaw Ridge, Game of Thrones, The Jungle Book, and next week's convention shoot.

Some 4K cameras don't have a good 1080 image, which means for those shoots a 1080 camera is better than a 4K camera which shoots poor 1080. The 1080 image on the C100 is certainly sharper than the 1080 on the GH4.

GH5 won't ship until 3rd week of March per Panasonic.
Sure but the pre-orders are being taken as we speak.

There's a difference between clients who have a project that will be completed and then stored in under two years and then there's stuff that will have to last a long time. Obviously, there are tiers of clients, their preferences and budgets and so forth but ... YouTube can already stream in 8K (look up some Red Weapon clips). The resolution train has stopped off at the 4K station and is about to depart. The conductor will be whistling for the next stop at the NAB'17.

DLD may have been referring to the demand from those in the market for a camera and not clients.
I think - but have no proof - that Canon will have an entry level 4K pro camera, whether or not it will be called C100 MK III or C200 or whatever. Of course, if 1080p does the trick and the money is better spent elsewhere, then the buyer ought to think rationally how to allocate his limited funds. It's just that GH5 will have some features, such as 4K 60p, that even C300 MKII doesn't have. Once again, not everyone will need 4K60P ... but, for $2,000, it's a pretty awesome tool to have.

PS. Because GH5 doesn't have a BSI sensor, C100II should handily beat it on low light/high ISO performance. Other than that ....
