Canon HR10

I knew it! Canon's first AVCHD camera would be DVD! That controversal promotional video on Canon's website only said negative things about HDD and Flash AVCHD and not DVD! Also, Canon never had a HDD based camcorder or a Flash camera that wasn't a hybrid. No 24p though. Too bad. Maybe next time.

Here's the press release:

Whoa... I may... I may... Ughh (whump!/loud bang like head hitting keyboard)

:)

Don't sweat it. You, I, and at least two others around the 'net missed that, too.

LOL! Of course this comes out after I ordered an HV20 yesterday! However, had Mini-DV not been a factor for me to consider, I would have looked at one of these in a flash-based model, not too sure about DVD though...

Cool nonetheless, 24p was the only thing missing for AVCHD, now things should get even more interesting for the format!

But it's the third paragraph in the press release! I just assumed that it had no 24p when I took a quick look through it.

camcorderinfo.com must have missed it too.

Engadget missed it too and for the HV20. Maybe they just don't know what it means to people.

Thanks for pointing it out though!

Well at least you get the mic input!

And it's 12Mbps!

Pinnacle 11 supports AVCHD

But what does AVCHD have over HDV --- (not in theory, but in real world usage) ??

The sound, my friends. It's impossible to shoot something really decent without decent audio onboard. Unless, of course, @old_fashion_way. The non-tapeless HV20 wins.

Are you talking about the mic, mic input or audio compression?

On another topic, will you be able to use a 35mm adapter with it?

What i'm interested in knowing is whether visually AVCHD is as good as, if not better than, HDV.

not in actual real world performance yet

(don't tell me about theoretical advantages etc)
