Canon EOS 5D Mark II / NO 24p???

Good to hear your direct comments and answers macgregor.

What would you say: 550d or 7d, pros and cons for you?

Uhmmm... It's hard to say. It depends in your budget. I guess if you are asking this is because you only plan to take video. At current developing speed cameras last for half a year or a year, so save yourself some money and get the 550d. Specs for video are the same. Skew seemed slightly better. It's lighter which i like.

If you plan to shoot sports or journal photos, then the 550d is out of the question of course.

Edit: my broken english is not perfect, but this iPad makes his own words, so forgive my grammar here.

Thanks, you absolutely do shed some light on the subject.
And no worries about the grammar.. I probably have as much mistakes as you..

I'm thinking mainly video, but also some photography.
The thing I don't like about the 550d is the limited iso values and the fact that it's so light.

But you said you liked it being so light weight.
I just feel like I'm holding plastic... Which to me is generally not an awesome feeling.

It's a pickle though. Cause the development sure is rapid...

BTW..
Every 6 months or so I find myself watching SIMILO "one more time"... It's such eye candy, I can't describe it..

Any information about this?

What i like about HDSLRs is that in a tiny, Compact size you have a tiny film camera. The good thing is the size. I don't understand people that after buying the camera buy expensive matte boxes and hd monitors. Why do you need a matte box for? Use a screw in filter if you need Nds. still lenses rarely flare. The advantage of this camerAs is the size, and people throw that away. If you want to look pro buy yourself an ex1 at least. ;)

Nothing new on the 24-70. Just checking canon rumors for any new info...
But on a crop cam like the 2ti this would be my standard lens.
The thing about pimping the dslrs is the same as with the DVX/HVX/EX1s. I only have a mattebox for looks. ND grads always move down on my "must buy" list because when having e.g. a wide shot with a lot of sky, like a city panorama and I really need it, I just do a composite from different exposures (static shot of course).

For that already infamous "House" episode, they just shot handheld with plain 5Ds if I recall correctly - funny the pros like downsizing, most here prefer pimpin`out...

But I still find it impossible to show up with a 5D on a client shoot...

For certain situations, like photographing pretty drunk girls at the exit of a bar, having a built-in flash is handy.
Limit your lens options? What do you mean? THe lens casting shadows because it´s too big? That can happen sure. But anyway, having a bulit in flash does not harm.

I think he means you can shoot wide angle without having to practically buy a fish eye, a zoom or a lens that only opens up to f2.8 and therefore only gets sharp around f4.5.

Gotcha. Actually the tokina 11-16 f2.8 is an amazing lens and i doubt you need anything wider than that.

Nothing like asking a question and then disappearing. That's pretty much what I meant, even though I didn't explain it very well. Glad you two were able to sort out my question. LOL. Your response makes sense to me. Thanks!

Hmmm...just checked POTN, which is where I thought I saw it. But I can't confirm it so ignore my post above unless someone else can confirm.

.

Intermediate iso values have proven not to be a good idea anyway (less dynamic range). Lighter is always better (ie:red1 vs epic or 435 vs 235). ;)
