Canon EOS-1D C Price Announced $11999 Pre-Order Texas Media Systems

Bloom's review of the 1DX is pretty good too. He said basically that it is the best DSLR for video - he was a bit surprised a bit, not expecting much over the 5DIII.
Or rather we expected the 5dmkIII to perform as the 1d-X does now, but it didn't, and we then just assumed that there would be no good DSLR for 1080p this year, but alas, the $7000 Canon does, and thereby our expectations are surpassed and perceived value is reintroduced. Haha. (Meanwhile in GH2 land.....)

I did appreciate the pbloom video. some nice shots and real world challenging situations.

I'm not surprised at all that the 1DX is better for video than the 5D3, as I also found 1D4 to be much better for video than the 5D2.

On a related note, Scott Daniels of Canon told me today that the 1DX and 1DC are definitely, positively NOT the same hardware - despite what some bloggers would have you believe based on their unnamed sources.

It seems to me that the "1D-X is better" is a bunch of placebo. Looks exactly like the 5d to me. With a smidgeon more aliasing.

Yes,
but for $4,000 extra for 1D-C you will have it all.
1) S35 crop (doubles your lenses)
2) 1920-1080 50/60P
3) non stop video
4) C-log
5) better moire results
6) 4k
7) more video features and set ups in menu
8) clean 4:2:2 video out

And internally changed for more heavy duty video production

Yeah, I would get it if I actually had a job to pay my bills. lol. But actually, I have no problem with the price point of 1DC. Sure, 4K will be affordable for the masses in 2014, but we're not there yet... Just as I payed a lot for my first 1080p camera and I'm glad I did, because it's a joy to watch your old stuff in today's res.

And, you get a 1DX too. A pretty kick-ass camera.

Terry, to do the lease, do I have to do it through a business? Also, I'm assuming the $1 buyout means that I pay an extra dollar plus what ever the remaining amount of money on the lease is and then I own the camera, correct?

When you fill out the Canon lease application below, use your DBA for the business name even if you operate as a sole proprietor. For example, your DBA could be "Cory Braun Films".

Canon will use your personal credit info for the lease. We can usually get most leases approved in one day.

Once you agree to a lease term, the last payment is $1 on a regular lease. Most leases do not allow an early payoff to eliminate interest unless you have a promotional 0% interest lease.

Being able to do an early payoff is one advantage of bank loans.

Both types of financing will require insurance for the camera.

Great, thanks for all of the info.

I'm surprised there aren't more sample videos out there coming from this camera, like there was with the C100/300, FS100/700, and the GH2/GH3.

Some are saying the 1080p will be the same as the 1DX, maybe that will be true, maybe not. Either way, I want to see 4k@24fps samples, I want to see Super35@24fps ALL-I, and I want to see 1080p60 ALL-I and 1080p24 ALL-I!

Preferably outdoor footage, like scenes from Philip Blooms "The Tracker and the Banker".

The camera isn't released yet.

Might have something to do with it?

Plus, on Hurlbut's blog I get the impression they are still trying to iron out a few codec issues, so I don't expect Canon to be sending this camera out for testing.

Some french guys did an extremely crappy job recently where they are filming cars on a track and some bar stuff.

EOSHD linked to it from his twitter stream. But like I said: that footage sucks due to operator major fail.

Attended Shane's 1Dc screening a few weeks ago, and he mentioned there was a bug that produced banding under certain lighting conditions. He was expecting a firmware upgrade, and then would run tests since the camera was not releasable with that banding bug.

Rant mode on: "This camera still baffles me: 4k, mjpeg at 8bit!?? And HD with 4:2:0 subsampling?? When I first heard of 1DC I thought great, a superb stills camera and a superb digital cinema camera. But then I saw that it's 8bit mjpeg and that the HD is 4:2:0... I mean seriously Canon?" Rant mode of. Thank you:)

4k 4:2:0 translates to 2k 4:4:4.

4k 4:2:0 translates to 2k 4:4:4.

4k is actually 4:2:2 isn't it? Would you care to elaborate how would let's say 4k 4:2:2 downconvert to 4:4:4? No really, I haven't thought about it from this perspective...
Information is tossed away at the beginning so if you ask me it's not the same no matter how you look at it. Right?

The problem is for me anyway if I wanted to shoot with this camera that 4k is only 24p and HD which is at 25p is only 4:2:0. If 4k would
be at 25p than things would be a bit better. But still, it's only 8bit.
