Canon EF 28mm f1.8 vs Canon EF 50mm f1.4

I wonder what route people are going to chose in order to get an ultra wide. Please post your findings folks!
 
Here's how Ken Rockwell defines it for 1.6x cameras:

Ultra-Ultra Wide = 7 - 10mm
Ultra Wide = 11 - 13mm
Wide = 15 - 21mm
Normal = 28mm

I guess I'm looking for an EF 12mm 1.8 USM prime...for $300...lol!

Those numbers sound about right.

Not sure which ultra-wide I will get, if at all. I already have an older 17-35 f/2.8L but I might get the Canon 10-22 for still photography and occasional video. The ultra-wides on video look sort of strange to me whenever there is any camera movement involved. For me, I'd probably use them more as an effects lens or for remote mounts and very tight places (cockpits, car interiors, etc.).

I'm beginning to think it's "none at all" for me and the ultra-wides. I've been looking at my D90 and the kit lens and I've just about concluded the 20mm EF 2.8 USM is all the wide I'll need for video on the 7D.
 
well, i also own a 18-55 i think from my rebel, which i can use, it's just very slow, and with wides you generally have the least control over lighting, which is also why one generally needs faster wides.

why not the Tokina 11-16mm w/ a constant f/2.8 aperture? that's the lens i may have a majority of the time.
 
with a nikon adapter that should work fine? The only thing that would stop me from getting it would be it doesn't covers more ultra wides that wides. Might be very useful though, at the same time, but i would get more use out of, say something tha goes between the range of appx: 16mm to 22mm, and hopefully something better than F4 constant.

Tokina AT-X Pro 165: 16-50mm F2.8 constant.
