C300: Canon EF 11-24mm on the C300MKII

Anyone using the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM on the C300MKII? I'm about to buy this camera and wondered if it would be a nice lens for it. If someone had samples I could see it would be appreciated.

I use one on a C100/2 but that doesn't matter as both utilize the S-35. I assume by your question that you are concerned about using a FF lens on that sensor (?) Latest update for both cameras includes correction profile for this lens. Plenty of sample shots on the web on DSLR bodies. My use is different than yours (trust me) so my current grabs won't do you any good. What is it you are looking to achieve with this glass?

Right, that seems to be an issue here (?). I can assure you if there is any "barrel" distortion, it is not perceptible on video. The lens is built to be rectilinear unlike a fisheye which, by nature, produces barrel distortion in spades.

That's good to know.
Robert, the lens is very nice on any of the C series cameras....but, with being so wide, you want to be careful with movement shots....don't move too fast in panning and really look at any tilting movement....it can be a bit un-nerving. We can help you with both so stop on in!

While it's a great lens, personally, to me, it seems as if you are wasting a lot of it's potential shooting S35 with it, you are only using the center circle and lens designers spend most of their time working on and sweating about image quality at the outer edges. If you have a FF stills camera, then it might be worth it? I have the 10-18mm STM IS, which is obviously a lot cheaper in every respect but as far as focal length and FOV, I rarely use it. Ultra wides are terrible for shooting people and I mostly shoot actors and interviews.

I'm on full frame cameras. I shoot a lot of albums and magazine covers. I'm a Nikon guy and was thinking of switching back over to Canon. Back in my days shooting Guns N' Roses all I used were Canons. Nikon came to me and I switched. Was thinking about getting a few Canon bodies and the C300 MKII. I love wide angle that is why I was curious how it would be on this camera. I'm still on the fence about Canon. Love my D800's and was really looking at all the features of FS7. Love Canon quality and the Canon look. Decisions, decisions. Going to be shooting a few documentarys and trying to decide what would work best for me. I really appreciate yours and everyone's help here.

Thanks Jim.

I have both the 300M2 and the 11-24. it's, as one mentioned earlier, a stills lens and is one of the best photo lenses I have ever own, and since I work since 1990 as a one man company I think I know what I am saying. Pure drifting has said everything there is to say about this lens as a filmlens. I bought it to use on my movi M10 as well and think it is way to heavy for that.

...11-24...I bought it to use on my movi M10 as well and think it is way to heavy for that.

I'm not sure what you mean here. M10 payload is a little weak but still can handle a 300 w/11-24 no problem. Do you mean total weight of all equipment is too heavy to carry? Again, M10 is one of the lightest, if not THE lightest full-size gimbal out there now. I'm not qualified as I don't own the M10 but did try out the Ronin (full size) with a C100/2 and the 11-24. The Ronin is an absolute pig weight-wise but can handle much more rig than that M10 (not saying the M10 is less apt to hold the 300/11-24 combo). At any rate, I could hold that for about 2 minutes before the burn came on.
