What I really like about this move is that Canon is not just making great products, but crucially they're building massive loyalty.
Agreed. That's the best publicity they can ever get.

Sorry, to clarify though it WAS NOT JUST CANON REPS that gave out this information. I know for a fact the "no 24p firmware because of hardware" didn't come from a Canon rep on my end.
So nobody spread false information, we were relaying exactly what we were told and if someone decides to change their mind, that's a different story.
Canon learned from the RED camp and is really entering into the age of direct feedback and costumer support.
Yes, all hail RED. The company that changed everything. Nobody knew anything before RED! The company with one camera and years of renders and specs on paper that change like the wind!!
Excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth...
This is awesome news from Canon. You know, the company that actually IS changing the game by releasing cameras with features at price points that it seemed like we'd never see.

A confirmation that Canon reps don't know any more than we do. People keep spreading misinformation, falsifying data, making wild assumptions, blaming the market and hardware limitations as though they know the facts. The only undeniable fact is proven once again that nobody really knows anything.
Another reason for my Canon love/hate relationship. I traded my 5D 2 for a 7D. If they'd release the new firmware upgrade now I'd be kicking myself for sure.
Well i'll be taking all future sources with a grain of salt. If it's not coming from an engineer working R&D in Japan, i'm gonna hit it with the 5th grade lip twist....i ain't buyin' it. Anywho I can't wait and i'm glad i did not jump on the 7d bandwagon not that it is not a great piece of kit.
It's not the first time in DVXuser history or the Internet that things have changed. It won't be the last. Jan Critterdan of PANASONIC has represented both sides of the fence for years. She constantly said NO CMOS IN PANASONIC CAMERAS.
Then the HPX300 arrives. Is she suddenly of no use to this forum because someone changed their mind? No one can predict how someone may change their mind, but Barry cites a very credible source who is now wrong several months later; it's fine.
Not even sure why people are getting sand in their cracks about it.
24p in 2010 means the MKii still does not have 24p. Why own one when you can own them all? =D I still have my MKii and now two 7Ds, problem solved.
Wow what's with the sore winners? WTF! 24p could have gone either way, this really seems like a late descision that was pretty much a CHANGE in direction, in a seemingly long stream of changes in direction.
You forgot the HMC40. Also the "100" and the current "300" consumer series. I am pretty sure that the 160 and the 180 will have a CMOS sensor too. It's not the first time in DVXuser history or the Internet that things have changed. It won't be the last. Everybody can't ball til they fall like Kholi! And there's no sand in my crack...only hair but that's another story. Look I can't speak to where Jan is in the Panny food chain, but it seems that Canon is a lot closer to the chest especially depending on what continent you live on and since they have never provided a "Jan", I don't know why we put so much stock in all the rumors anyway.

Yes. Why pay $2600 when you can pay $6000. Problem solved!
