Canon Confirms 24p And 25P For 5D via firmware update!!!

Ya he said it like when you introduce someone to someone else, who's name you don't really know :D

"oh this is eh huh reh ur 5D and umm heh ah 7D"

I have been patiently waiting for the firmware and am going crazy like everyone else wondering what we are going to get and when it's coming.

I own both a 5D and 7d and have had more than a few conversations with Canon on the 5D mkII.

About 2 weeks ago, I called and talked to tech support and then called someone in the EOS department in sales and marketing (Canon USA) of whom I have a name and number, but no personal relationship.

They both told me, that although it wasn't in writing, it was their understanding that the 5D firmware would have the same frame rates as the 7D. There was no hint in either persons story that we weren't getting the same frame rates as the 7d. But as always, they covered their butts with, it is suppose to be the same., but until it ships, nobody knows for sure.

As to delivery date, neither gave me any information.

To be honest I doubt most Canon reps will know any more than we do, they're prob just reading the same info from the highers up that gets put out as press releases.

There may be some truly in the know people, but most I'd imagine are dealing in the same conjecture and half truths we all are.

Personally I'm shooting a video this week combining the Ex1 and 5D, 5d for 90%, Ex1 for slow mo.

Would LOVE to have 25P and slow-mo as I'd only need the one camera! As it is I'm gonna have to shoot the Ex1 at 29.97fps, the 5d will be at 30fps, confirm or convert so they're the same, then edit and convert to 25p at the end. Lame workflow but what can you do.
