So compared to the FS7 it does only half the fps at 4k, less fps at 2k, less bit rate (400 vs 600 mb/s) and
That doesn't mean much, as the internal processing is more important (as in "how much data is thrown out along the processing path before the final delivery?")

it's only twice the price........hmmmmmm......tempting! Steve
It's... £11,599 in the UK? How much is FS7?

The US prices aren't out yet.

The fps means a lot if you want slomo!
In UK you can get FS7 for £5k or less.

And yet, the C300II will work as advertised right out of the box.

Also, don't forget about the new "True Match" feature with profiles to match Arri log, and many other cameras. At 15 Stops DR, I think you will see many more C300II's than Fs7's on productions. Many more.

It's nice that it has 15 stops of DR and bazillion ISO capability, but I've long since come to regard published specs as only mildly relevant at best. That 15 stops DR - great, but how does it handle highlight roll offs? Sky-high ISO - great, but how are the darks and shadows noise-wise and when there is noise how does that noise look? And so on. I mean, ultimately it needs to be put through its paces, there is only so much you can glean from the spec sheet. I assume it's a Canon and has reliability going for it, so that's nice. I'm sure the colors are great (for those - like me - who like the Canon color science). It's easy to laugh at Canon's usual overpriced MSRP, but if it really delivers on those specs in practice as I indicated where it works great not just on paper but in the nitty gritty of usability and IQ, then I think the price is not so bad - after all, look at the price point of an Alexa and what that buys you compared to this C300II... I'd say the price in this case is not so bad. But all this is speculation - let's wait and see when the camera is in users hands so it can be tested.

I meant the recording bit rate. Both XAVC and XF-AVC (new Canon codec) are based on H264. Canon's HDMI 2.0 allows for ProRes 444. FS7 only does 422 HQ, correct?

In UK you can get FS7 for £5k or less.

So, it looks like the U$17,000 was the right price all along.

Seems like this is stepping on the C500?
If/when C500 comes out, it'll probably have the internal Raw. Not that folks in the TV biz care as much about Raw. 422 has been a norm in the past and 444 will likely be the norm in the future. It's still about 1 TB per hour.

I can see where this camera is really going to be good but I have to say I just dont see it...4K at 30p should have been 60p. Raw output is great. But ill wait to see what footage looks like.
