C300: Canon C300 mark II costs the same as an ARRI AMIRA - NO IT DOESNT.

I've never had any issues shooting handheld all day long with the C300 with no additional rigging whatsoever. I don't think the extra weight of the mark II will be that much of an issue for me.

The c300 mk2 is not usuable without a rig and an expensive evf, hence the €16k body plus 8k for all the other stuff. The zcuto gratical alone is €4k.

ok, r u out of your f... mind? the gratical is like 3-4 month old, c300 is 3 years old, thousands r out there, and no one using it?

i dont know who told u that, but he is not an operator. i am not a pro at high productions, but i did rent out several times my C300 to big projects with crews, production monitors.... it were TV pilots mostly, but also documentaries. i was operator assistant at the same projects, so i ve seen everything. The operator at these projects NEVER USED external EVF and never used external monitor. And never ever we had to do an extra shot, because there were focus problems!

the blind person with shaky hands that u got the info from is wrong

again i dont have external monitor or evf, r u trying to tell me that i have not used my cam at all?
now C300 II has even better internal EVF and MONITOR - they both now OLED, based on clips from NAB, also u get auto focus, and u get focus assist from the same auto focus technology that tells u exactly what should be done to get the focus. u have magnification, peaking, -

I'll mention it again, these are prices in the EU, for instance, germany. €24k for the amira basic, the advanced is a couple thousands more, up to €32k for the premium. The thing is that freelancers are opting for the more basic model and rent the premium licence for the shoot and charge it to the client, just like you charge for lighting, makeup or props.

again i just gave u the european price for amira, its from the EU DEALER, its a list price and i believe its a standard pretty much, from dealer to dealer u can get a few % discount, but in general it is what it is.

Once you add in a robotic telescoping crane, top of the line Steadicam setup, 4K Oled 70" production monitor, Cineflex system with full-size helicopter, etc., the C300 Mark II is around the same price as an IMAX camera, so may as well buy the IMAX camera instead. They're about the same weight too once you add on all of the basic accessories to make the C300 Mark II actually work, while the IMAX camera works right out of the box. I heard about a guy who tried to get a C300 to work bare-bones (no battery, no AC power) and he couldn't even get it turned on.

I've actually handled a C300 Mark II... off of a tripod and in final shooting form with a Canon Cinema Prime on it. It doesn't feel heavy and I'd have no problem shooting with it for far longer than the "30 seconds" the OP quotes. It's just not going to be a problem.

This whole thread is silly... though I will compliment Eric Coughlin on the immediately preceding post... classic!

I always use external monitors but I own three already. Also, most people I've seen use a loupe on the LCD if they shoulder mount not an EVF. Gratical strikes me as a classic piece of Zacuto overpriced gear and is totally NOT worth the money.
