Canon C300 II or Canon C500?

If someone was wanting to purchase either one? Which camera will you decide to purchase? I have shot with the C500 and C300 but not the C300 II. Is a extra $6000 worth purchasing a brand new C300 II?

Cheers

It depends how much you value the extra stop(s) of DR, internal 4K, and the autofocus feature.

Also...youll need to factor in the cost of CFast. If you have the $6k...go for the C300II

I do think we might see a price drop in the next 6 months. Might save you a few grand. All speculation....but it will probably happen.

Well, rumors had Canon showing up with C500II at the NAB. C500 price was lowered. Then Canon decided to postpone any announcements. The new rumors - 100% accurate in every sense of the word - have them finally bringing it out in September.

Of course, those rumors couldn't predict the Kumamoto earthquake, that's causing a lot of delays in the smaller sensor camera production. (Sony's plant in the quake zone is shut down for the time being). So, if Canon can't help but to delay X, will that force it to reveal something else in its stead? Stand by for more rumors.

As to cameras, to get 4K out of C500, one needs an external recorder and often a license (not to mention an SDI cable). Price your packages accordingly.

And visit your local pro gear shop where face-to-face bargaining may prove fruitful. There's a lot of play in that $16,000 price.
