I've got the demo of the demo of the C300 , and hoping to get some test shots in this weekend around the commercial I'm shooting.

Great, looking forward to your results.

But by the look of the cam tho a few users will be reinforcing their rates to quizzical clients :)

Cheers.

No, not stepping :) Used the camera today for some of our b roll shots in this commercial for one of the banks. It worked, and worked well. We were able to grab shots quickly, as my F3 was bunkered down, with the full heavy set up on sticks. Just back now, so will try to put some frame grabs up, and other bits from around the house. 16 000 iso is pretty wild. Yes there's grain, but its tight, and for many scenarios of where it would be screened, acceptable, and very minimal rolling shutter. We were whip panning it pretty good, and its the best I've seen so far. More to come. Dumping footage, and have to get my kids ready for bed.

Its been a busy weekend on this commercial. I've uploaded a few clips that we shot with the C 300. I had the opportunity to test the new Canon C300 first in Canada. Most of the testimonial based commercial was shot on the Sony F3, but we decided to shoot some of the b roll with the C 300, then on our last day we jumped in and shot the final 2 interviews with the C 300. We used Canon 16 -35L 2.8, 24-70L 2.8, 70-200L 2.8, and a Zeiss 85mm ZF 1.4 with a Nikon to EF adapter for one of the interviews. Mostly at iso 850, with one at iso 1000, in Canon log 4:2:2 50mb to CF cards.

These are the straight Canon log transferred in FCP 7, exported to h.264 and uploaded to Vimeo. I'm going to play with some grading tomorrow. Need sleep....

I only saw one highlight I didn't like and that was the in-focus table edge near the elbow of the girl in orange at 0:10. This might have been the h264 and the original footage might be fine, hard to tell. Everything else was awesome, even in the same frame the highlights off the glasses near her elbow were good (but they were out of focus).
Later, the guy at 0:22 had some in-focus highlights on his skin and to me they looked great.

edit:
once again, Nigel I'm just tearing into the camera here - not trying to judge your work which is spot on.
And all of us here are very very appreciative to you for uploading this even though you are exhausted.

2nd edit:
I think my new big client is getting a c300 in January for me to play with, fingers crossed !!!!!
